the ones that show the co-ordinates of where the picture was taken

A question if you are in an aeroplane and took a picture
would it give the planes location or just not function?

Not come accross those. But if you're in a (metal) commercial jet with the normal tiny windows you'd be lucky to get a view of the GPS satellites.

You would be better off de-activating the gps (if possible) as using any electronic device that utilises an antenna on an airplane is not permitted.

While it's doubtful that you would get caught, it's not really with the risk. Besides I seriously doubt that you would establish a lock with even one satelite, so it probably wouldn't function anyway.

I belive GPS are allowed on planes as they are non transmitting devices. Laptop and handheld games are allowed but not during take off
