He’s knowledgeable, informative and fair. He doesn’t have pet dancers, hasn’t developed an ego as big as the Albert Hall and doesn’t think he’s the star of the show.
In short, he’s perfect for the job.
Let’s get rid of the Muppets in judges’ row this year, and have four new ones for next year.

I think I would get bored. I like the judges and their insanity

I don't like him I know he probably knows much more technically than the judges, but he seems a bit stuck up to me (he's probably very nice, but that's the impression I get. Actually my first impression had more bad words than that, but...). And I don't understand him sometimes because he doesn't explain the technical things he's saying.

I like him too, but I think making him into a judge would corrupt in the same way that it has corrupted everyone else.

I wouldn't want him as a judge either funnily enough. He may be knowledgeable, but I think he would be boring on the show, and his ego would soon grow just like some of the others. He's OK in the spot he's got, so don't mind if he stays there.

I agree - while he is obviously very informative and knowledgeable, he would bore me!

I liked him. He was knowledgeable, fair and informative but who knows what a stint on thhe judges table would do. Could become like the rest of them.

The only judge I would replace is Bruno, too OTT most of the time. I don't think I would choose Philip he appears too normal.

Yes- lets have Philip instead of Bruno.

What a relief it was to listen to him- sensible comments.I think the suit & shirt/tie betray hidden depths though.
Good smooth camera work on the training videos....TV for grown ups.

I feel all 4 judges should be changed, as it would keep the show fresh. After 4 series, I think that there should be changes with some of the professionals as well as all of the judges.

Plenty more dancers out there, just as deserving as the existing professionals, who merit their time in the spotlight, and the same can be said for people with experience of the dancing world, and who judge dance now.

So a wholesale purge?
Yes,I'm agreeing with that.
make it so!

Absolutely agree, a major change in both judges and dancers is essential if there is another series. They have all had a great run for their money but, next time, the show will need a new and fresh impetus if it is to retain its attraction. And (howls of protest from the teeny boppers) perhaps the time has come to put the dizzy Claudia out to grass, to be replaced by a personality who has a modicum of ballroom dancing knowledge. Otherwise, how can they ask sensible questions? And nightly editions of I.T.T. is overkill. A couple of nights is enough. Television entertainment needs to be kept fresh and interesting - otherwise people will eventually die of boredom! Many won't like it - but that's the truth of the matter.

Sorry can't agree with that at all! Most judges on the professional circuit do not have the personality for a TV entertainment programme. The last thing we want is four Lens on a panel. Bringing in a whole load of unknown (to the general public) professional dancers would risk the future of the show. The public at large have got to know the current professionals now, and they do a great job teaching and dancing on the show. This is one of the reasons the show is such a success. I don't understand why anyone would want to get rid of all of them.

Dancingles ....... not a total change of ALL personnel .. but some major changes in both judges and professionals. As Bruno's Girl correctly says, there are scores of great personalities out there in the dancing world. And there is no need for four clones of the sainted Len Goodman!

We do have to remember, though, that it is a Saturday evening entertainment programme. I think a number of people in the dancing world were approached when the programme was first thought of and they wanted nothing to do with it in case it ridiculed ballroom dancing. I don't see why they should be brought in now it is a success when they were not prepared to take that risk a couple of years ago. My point is why change what is clearly a successful programme with a successful format and successful personalities among the dancers? You wouldn't change the lead actors in a successful drama series, or change a successful presenter of any other show, so why do it with SCD?

I find that assumption hard to believe as it is well known that many senior ballroom dancing aficionados have been trying for very many years to get the BBC to reintroduce some form of ballroom dancing programme on television. Eventually the BBC tried it and discovered what the ballroom dancing fratenity have always known - that watching ballroom and latin dancing (even presented in its present dumbed-down package) is very entertaining indeed, and far preferable to the usual televisual garbage that is relentlessly inflicted on the viewers. But this is not to say that some of the participating personnel do not need to be changed from time to time.

I was actually told that by one of the current judges, who may know!

As three of the current judges were unknown nonentities in the world of top ballroom dancing prior to this programme then it could only have been the shy and sensitive Len Goodman!

Well I was delighted the BBC introduced the Sunday repeat for this series, as it means I can watch SCD 7 nights a week!! Perfect!!

Re Philip, I think he is totally suited to his role now, as a digi commentator and to go through the training clips and analyze on ITT. He does a great job. To be on the show in the current age of image conscious TV, I'm afraid his style of appearance and straight analysis would be considered *old fashioned* for a general entertainment show, as don't forget, although Dancing is the main ingredient, it's still ultimately a family entertainment show for TV.

I've read some negative comments about some of the professionals and Judges this year, but you can guarantee that the TV Producers are loving it all. Anton & Erin may leave alot to be desired as far as Latin choreo is concerned, however both are good on TV, in different ways, and add to the show. I think if there were wholesale changes the dynamic of the show's personality would be lost, and that's what attracts alot of viewers.

I look forward to Philip's piece on the show and training. Unfortunately don't have red button facility, so this is my only opportunity to hear what he has to say. It feels like its independent of the judges and to be commended.

Last series when we all discussed the judges and possible bias, my suggestion was to bring in a professional judge onto ITT to comment on the dances. My assumption was that the judges, knowing that someone would be commenting after the show, would step up their game - oh well, wishful thinking
