Who has the most to prove?
JTW
17-11-2006
I think they are all on this show for a reason and want to prove something to us the public.

It may be that they are judged wrongly and want to correct it, or that they feel unappreciated in some way and hope we respect them.

Whatever the reason, they are all there to prove something.

But who do you think needs to prove to the UK nation who they are as a person and why?

IMO and for starters......David Gest should have less to prove as a world renowned character....but given the media circus that has surrounded him, he might want to put the rumours to rest.

Judging from the opinion I have from national news I would say David Guest has more to prove from a British audience as he is only known for being married to Liza Minelli and the bitchy separation/divorce. It has been very biased against him from what I've read. I didn't think I'd like him but I do

Everyone else is known apart from Phina, who was in Footballer's Wives, although I didn't recognise her and she's not a big media star.

Jan Leeming is not living up to the cool calm collected newsreader she once was though

Wasnt it Jan Leeming who calmly coped when the 9 o'clock news was invaded live on air by a gang of marauding womens libbers? And also when a huge light bulb exploded above her while she was reading the news and showered her with shattered glass. She flinched a bit and then continued reading as if nothing had happened.

There are no signs of that sort of behaviour any more though.

I don't feel that Myleene has 'anything to prove'... I think she is simply having a good pay day and further enhancing her image... I don't feel that her 'career' was on the wane at all... sometime celebrities purposefully appear on such Shows to simple boost an already improving profile... like Kenzie in CBB?

Myleene is beautiful and talented, but with bad management she has been on too many crappy shows and seen at too many crappy parties. This show will either turn her into a glamour model or get her a descent TV series.

Jason is coming across really well (IMO) and I think the jungle will be a new start for him.

Jan Leeming is a Joke

Scott is a spiteful queen, but will continue to make dresses for waisted models.

The girl from footie wives will be forgotten again in two weeks.

David Guest is coming across quite well, I'm not sure why he is doing the show.

Connie typical journo, I cannot forgive her for shafting David Guest before she even met him.

Toby is a nice guy, a bit dull mind you.

Think that was Sue Lawley, hence the scatterbrain, out of control mid-life crisis of Ms Leeming.

Seems even more harsh than Prince Charles's comments about Nicolas Witchell!

In terms of preconceptions and misjudgments, I think David Gest had a lot to prove - certainly to the British public at least!

Hands up who thought he was a complete weirdo who had his plastic surgeon on speed dial?

I think David Gest probably has the most to prove. He's the most written about and no-one really sees him beyond the stories. I think he has succeeded so far. I mean I assumed him to be this freaky, prima dona, who was just going to throw his weight around, but I was so wrong. But all I had ever read were the stories about him and he's not really on things where you get to see him.
I think Lauren feels she has the most to prove, with her 'look I'm Cherie's cooler, hipper, sister' front, but I think all she will do is look back and cringe

Lauren & Scott have to prove who the hell are they? Even by the standards of celeb reality TV shows this was scraping the barrel.

I think Dean has a lot to prove

the tabloids have always slated him for his acting and looks

I think hes there to prove he is just an OK guy who just wants to make a living without the tabloids taking the p*ss out of him everyday

They all have someithing to prove for different reasons.

What interests me though, is that David Gest is probably the biggest international character on the show, but is more laid back than the others.

He seems to let the others have their moments of drama as though he understands they need it more than he does. I think he's been very charitable with the others as he knows his status in the fame stakes but is not milking it for all its worth as other international celebs maybe would.

I think his reason for being on the show is to show us (the public) that there is a human being behind the freak he's been made out to be.

I was thinking of those two...didn't know who the heck they were before this week...even less interested now.

I have to agree with you. Admittedly I thought Scott could emerge as a humorous bitchy person, but he's tunred out to be bitchy without humour.

Phina is another letdown but I'm giving her a bit more time to see if she can come away from Scott's influence. She gets a point for at least confronting Jan...but for the life of me, I still don't know what all the aggro is about.

Yes, I'd say all three of the mentioned have a lot to prove..given we (or at least I) knew nothing about any of them a week ago.

Why would Guest give a damn about what the we the brit public think of him??

IMO, Gaffney has the most to prove/disprove. Has he been in anything since Eastenders?

Wasn't Phina in Buffy - Giles' girlie if I recall.....
