Stuck in there with the whinging, bitching Scott and Phina. Who do they think they are, whining and bitching and calling her negative - what do they think they're like? They should learn to live and let live - who does that Scott think he is saying she needs to get rid of baggage before she can become what he wants (he didn't put it quite like that, but that is in effect what he implied). The arrogance, the insuffereable agism of that unpleasantly bitchy pair! Ugh! They just can't stand someone who speaks their mind, and they're jealous because they don't know how to do it themselves without getting personal and aggressive. Stupid pair! Or maybe they are just bullies anyway.

She is a bright, articulate woman who has already made a success of her life - who exactly are they???

I see your point. I think Phina and Scott are ganging up on her. If she was that bad, why aren't the others saying something to her about it. Scott is the one that's carrying the stories and stirring it.

I feel sorry for her since she is coming across SO badly.

Jan is 65 years old. I think she has some guts doing what she is doing at that age!

I think she has problems dealing with her age and is acting like a teenager.

I actually like her now. She's a batty old woman! Jan to win!

I sense the tide turning in favour of Jan, as a slightly pained and put-upon underdog? I'm certainly finding her quirky and interesting in a cringy way - deserves to stick around for a while at least as she provides me with accidental entertainment

They are bullying her, no doubt. Scott is certainly stirring, as you say. Little sh*t disturber - really not the nice person she thinks he is.

She couldn't even explain to Phina what she meant when she said "well you are a little bit whaayy" & started waving her hands about.

Then when Phina asked her to explain it, she couldn't give her a valid answer & did the hand waving thing again.

Is Jan really 65? Respect to her. She's doing something incredibly physically hard, in an environment in which everyone is at least a decade younger. And she really isn't doing badly at all.

I'm finding Jan to be an eccentric fruitloop who is starting to grow on me.

The accusations Scat and Morphine are making about her - that she is pessimistic and annoying - they are guilt of in bucket loads and more!

All they have done is whinge moan and bitch about her constantly.

can't they just have a mercy mission to give her a big supply of make-up, the scarey face intensifies everything she squeaks.

Also, part of the problem with her whinging is that its based on her news-reader style of delivery, so it comes across as fact, so even when she tried to make out she was joking - no-one believed her.

Jan is turning out to be TV gold. She is awful, but fascinating to watch. I don't feel sorry for her. I'm amazed that at her age she isn't a bit more self aware. She's in danger of making Lauren seem cool.

Jan is cringeworthy at times....her singing audition for David, and her crush on Toby make me hide behind a cushion....but, Phina and Scott are making themselves look catty, nasty and petty.

They are now coming across as schoolyard bullies, just because Jan irks them. To begin with I could see their point, Jan is a tad negative, and she does whine, but they are over stepping the mark, they've overplayed it and the public will turn on them.

Scott in particular is a nasty little worm, he delights in stirring and causing drama where there isn't any. I had no idea he even existed before this week, and will be happy to carry on in that mode once he's off my screen.

But why does that mean she isn't self-aware? Perhaps she isn't terribly bothered about being cool. When you get to a certain level of maturity, you tend to laugh at other's obsession with "being cool" and relish the freedom of not having to be. Do you think she cares if she is "not cool"?

She's not that bad, imo. I think she gets picked on. I think people are very narrow minded.

I think you misunderstand what I mean by cool. She seems to genuinely believe she has a great voice (she hasn't; it's pretty grim, and by holding that note for so long it seemed as though she was trying desperately to impress, which was very embarrassing).
Her banter with Toby was just a little bit too far the wrong side of flirty to be comfortable (IMO), and she offered him her drink a few too many times. That's what I mean by not being self aware. I don't think she can tell how badly this comes across (like Lauren Booth and the reggae, which is why I compared the two of them).
By saying she was not 'cool' I was simply referring to this, not meaning that she was unfashionable, or something like that. I think Carol Thatcher was pretty cool because she was her own person, a pretty decent one at that, and certainly didn't worry about having to seem cool (it isn't cool to do that anyway, is it?).
Sorry if the word offended you. It isn't one I generally use, but I do think Jan's behaviour's embarrassing.

Yes she is 65 - well almost, in about 6 weeks or so - on the 5th January 2007.

It takes some guts at that age to do something like that, whether you like her or not, she deserves some respect

So just because you are 65 you are not allowed to have a crush?

She knows there is no chance, she is no fool, and you say what you feel when you get older because you realise you might not be around much longer to express your feelings.

Goodness me, I hope I don't stop finding others attractive when I am 65 - feelings do not stop because of age you know

Whatever Jan does in this programme,I'll always remember as an articulate competent woman.

(I'm sorry that she was persuaded to do this programme though.)

I think Jan is a pain in the backside, but Phina is very aggresive & intollarant & a bully. Where as Jan is a woman in her 60's & I personally think Phina should bear that in mind & is doing herself no favours.
