Toshiba announced a slight delay so the only units out there may be demo versions or the US import version and as of yet no word on a multi-region hack for DVD playback.
HD-DVD isn't region coded, yet.

Are we missing something here???

Just took a peep at Tesco's web site at the Toshiba HD-E1 and I quote...

"Compatible with new HD DVD, DVD, DVD-R and DVD-RW the player uses HDMI connection to give you videos with high definition quality visuals and digital sound to your HD TV. You can also upscale your old DVD to near HD quality with this sytem. Multi-region capable the HD-E1 lets you play DVDs from all countries".

Has the hack for HD-E1 been found???

I think what they mean is it can play HD-DVD's from all countries.

If a hack is available for normal DVD's I'd like to have it.

Thanks.

All Toshiba HD players owners would like a DVD multi-region hack but no such thing has been proven to exist perhaps because Tosh as the only provider of firmware have no interest in providing such a function.

As with DVD it may be that the companies that license HD DVD and release cheaper players will incorporate the required work around.

Hi Nick,

Couldn't see a further note saying what the hack was exactly. Would you mind telling me, please, and is yor player still working fine after the hack?

Noel.
