Tested Tonight?

I wonder how many people who claim (this includes me) to vote for the best dance on the night and have no out and out favourites suddenly discovered they do have loyalties after all when the "wrong" people ended up doing a "disappointing" dance and were therefore at risk?

I don't believe people dont develop favourites as time goes on, if you want to just vote for the dance thats fine but the public vote is seen as a popularity contest. I always vote for my favourite person regardless, i spent way too much money on the casualty people over the last few years

Of course it's a popularity contest when it goes to the public vote. How else do you explain Christopher Parker!!!!

Not me! I always vote for what I percive to be the best dance. Last year even tho I was a total Colin Fan I voted for Zoe's tango becasue it was just hands down the BEST on the night. Likewise I voted for Darren's Paso over Colin's becuase I thought his Paso was better than Colin's. The closest I have ever come to a sympathy vote was when I voted for Gloria Hunniford's Rumba......as I thought it was a bit unfair to ask a sixty-something grandmother to get down and dirty with a much younger man in front of millions

The BBC have been very psychologically sneaky when they say 'Vote for your favourites'. It will say to some people. Your favourites on the nght and others your favourites full stop no matter how awful they are.

I don't have a problem with people voting for couples that they like (as long as they like their dancing!). If everyone voted for the best dance of the night etc., then consistently good couples would be kicked out whenever they did a soso dance. Lots of people are/were upset about Ray & Camilla leaving, but they left _because_ people voted for the better dancers that evening.

Well I voted last night for the first time this series.

Mainly because I couldn't believe the marks they gave Emma - nor the slating certain judges gave Claire and Brendan. Peter and Erin were NOT the worst dancers on the night and did not deserve to be at the bottom of the leaderboard.

To have Emma in the bottom 2 clearly shows that she came bottom with the public - which means that the public did recognise a bad dance grossly overmarked

I don't vote, mostly because I can't!!!! But if I did, I'd give one vote to Carol & Matthew because they're my favourites, and one vote to the best on the night. Last night, would have been Matt & Lilia.

Hi Cat, you mentioned that before. Not sure if I told you but at that time you became an honorary member of the gritty household and we've added an extra vote for you (so let me know if you don't want to vote for Carol and Matthew).

Our voting rules are: we have one vote per gritty household (whether they watch the programme or not). If our favourite does well, they will get all the votes. If they don't impress us we don't vote (Colin in the final ). If another couple really impress us for whatever reason we will give them a vote.

(Move closer because I have to whisper - don't tell the husband but if our favourite impresses plus another couple we will add an extra phone call )

May not make sense to others, but it works fine for us.
