Quiver lower lip
Let tear ducts start to fill
Whine a bit
Bleat about wanting to teach the world to dance

...in perfect harmony?

That is two years running now. No more votes from me Karen.

She just loves to dance. Nothing wrong with that.

Its not like she is putting it on, its how she feels. You would call her if she didnt show any emotions.

What a cynical post.

I think Karen seems very genuine with her emotions.

Would I? No, I wouldn't. She seems to be forgetting that the celebrities are supposed to be the ones doing most of the talking.

The celebs are finding it hard enough to take the criticism they get ( although I get the impression that some of them don't really care ) and their dancing partners are their instructors, their mentors and the professionals.

Karen seems, at this point in the competition, to think it is about her, to take the criticism to heart and very personally. Camilla did that a bit from time to time and looked upset last year after the criticism of her fantastic dance with James Martin ( the puppeteer one ) and again this year but she does keep better control of her emotions on screen and doesn't continually interrupt the presenters.

Whether genuine or not, it doesnt serve her cause well and certainly doesn't help her partner cope with the criticism. After all, professional dancers have had to deal with far more vicious and cutting criticism all their working lives and have learned not to take it personally in front of the critic.... surely?

Cynical or not, I think I have a point ( and I would ) and its my choice not to vote for such a display as much as it is anothers choice to be suckered in by the "awwwww bless" reaction. Horses for courses.

Have you really voted for her before then?

I think she seems a lovely person. I like people that give a bit, rather than show nothing of themselves

Well no, I voted for Bill more than her, and stopped just after his foot problem, again because of her reactions when being judged. I came to voting this year with an open mind on her ( because she is rather good ) but I'm just put off, sorry.

Have to say I agree with the original poster on this. Karen and Camilla appear to be the main culprits in this respect. Much as I love their dancing their blubbing is annoying. They are professionals as the poster said and have to deal with far more vicious comments. Erin in this respect has to be commended as I've never seen her turn into a bowl of quivering jelly like the rest

Your entitled to your opinion .However, I don't think it is put on in a scam to gain more votes. I think Karen shows exactly what she is feeling and finds it hard to hide that.

Exactly. What wrong with showing emotions. She doesnt shout at the judges like other - she accepts their critisms and tries to work on them. Like a professional should.

As for her thinking the show is about her - how wrong! You dont know the woman and yet you call her.

I'm not a big fan of Karen (not sure why, but the other professional females come across as more "interesting" to me), but I do think she is genuine; accusing her of trying to manipulate people is a bit unfair.

Well you could read that I think she is trying to manipulate people ( that it is pre-planned ). I don't necessarily think she does it forebrain deliberately, I just don't think she can help herself. It is a childhood hindbrain reaction that she either has never grown out of or has proven too useful in the past.

"Oh pull yourself together". "Grow up". Those were the thoughts going through my head when she did it.

Thats whats going through my head about you at the moment. You say you dont like the women....well dont waste your time talking about her.
Did she burst out crying last night....or this series....no. If you read her story on her website you will understand why she was so emotional last series.

I really hate these bashing threads.....I take my leave.

I agree with CM. she may indeed be a lovely person, but all I know about her is what I see on SCD. I don't particularly like her TV persona, something very cloying and needy about her.

I think you really need to read properly before you hit reply.

I mentioned on another thread earlier in the week that I think she's doing Mark a bit of a disservice by being so over-zealous and not allowing the poor guy to get a word in edgewise.

OK, he's shy...... but he is the celebrity after all and people want to hear from him.... perhaps she needs to tone it down a little and let the public get to know Mark a little better.

I kind of agree with the OP - Karen can be irritating to me personally.
However, daisy 123 I dont think you should take it personally! If you know Karen and find her lovely thats great. Im sure she is in 'real life'. But others are allowed to form their own opinions on her whether they agree with yours or not.

Fine, he's entitled to his opinion, but its probably going to turn into just another long bashing thread.

Everybody has a vulnrability and professional dancers are real people after all. It did show on Karen's face last night but I am sure that as a pro she will pick herself up after finding that she is back for another week.
Another challenge, another chance.

I would love an explanation as to how expressing a opinion politely and explaining it well is construed as bashing...If the OP had come in and said 'I hate Karen! She's ugly and fat and she eats kittens! She shouldn't even be allowed to dance cos she's such a b*tch!' then I think you might have a case but, as it is...You don't have to agree with them but to cry 'bashing' against anyone who says they don't like a certain celeb or pro is ridiculous.

What I'm saying is those who just want to start bashing will come here and misconstrue what he's said and misuse the thread.

So no one is allowed to have a negative opinion and express it in case of idiots acting stupid?

To be clear I don't dislike the woman or like her, I don't know her personally and that really isn't what is important. I am talking solely about her reaction on the night to fair criticism.

I like Karen. She seems to me to be very genuine and passionate about dance.

She was responsing to criticism directly of her and to be honest I thought she took it probably too well as it was unjustified. There ain't one pro dancer who doesn't try to make up or their celeb's shortcomings and as Len was saying in his masterclass on ITT recently, it's way easier or the blokes - hence Anton lifting Patsy to get her back on course in the Quickstep.

Karen took pelters from the judges last year for her flamenco dress for their tango and now for being over dramatic to compensate for Mark. She is a very talented choreographer and one of the stars of the show as far as I am concerned.
