How Many in the Final?
libby3107

Ok, we have six couples left:

Mark and Karen
Carol and Matthew
Claire and Brendan
Matt and Lilia
Emma and Darren
Louisa and Lytton

And, yes, that probably is my order of preference.

We have 5 shows left:

25 Nov
2, 9, 16 and 23 December

If they get rid of one couple per show that leaves only two for the Final. Are they missing a week because of some event or are three couples to stay in for the last two episodes, or are there only going to be two couples in the Final?

This is obviously due to the departure of Jimmy, but I would like them to let us know what is going to happen.

And what would they do for the results show if they decided to have one week without elimination. I think lots of pro dances, myself..................

They could allow the judges or us to put someone back but that would break so many rules that I doubt the Beeb would try it.

The BBC website under 'contestants' still says it will be a 3 couple final...

I hope it is a three couple final. It makes it more exciting and less predictable.

I think to have two couples going head to head wouldn't be dramatic enough. I just wish we knew what they were going to do - I presume it's no elimination one week because I don't think they would cancel a show.

I hope there is three couples but we will find out on Tuesday whether there is three or two.

It has to be three couples in the final as it makes for a more interesting contest.

it has to be 3. it wouldn't be nearly as exciting otherwise.

To have no eliminations one week would be a bit unfair to those eliminated already. I suppose they could ask the public to vote one couple back in.

I know Big Brother got in trouble for doing this, but would the beeb? Due to the fact that it is a vote to save on SCD, nobody ever voted to get rid of a couple only to save their favourites. This means nobody has actually been tricked with voting, as they never voted out any eliminated couples. So would the beeb be doing anything wrong? I guess it's a very thin line.

I don't know how they're going to sort out the final, I know X Factor is only having two acts in the final this year, so SCD may do the same. It won't be the same though with only two couples.

The most likely thing is no elimination one week.

There is no way the BBC would make it less than three couples. The "outsider" is included to split the vote and add to the tension.

How do you mean we'll find out on Tuesday?

I reckon they'll wait until the penultimate week, then ask the public to vote back in one eliminated couple. This is the fairest way of doing it because all the couples except for the three finalists will have been eliminated, so all they're names would be in the hat, so to speak. To have a week without eliminations would be unfair on those already eliminated who didn't get the chance to be kept in anyway.

I think tis year with so many good couples even with 2 couples on the final night the show would be anything but predictable

The final of the US show, which was last week, was a dance off between 2 couples.

I agree, and if it means we get an extra week, I am all for it!

I'm not really sure they could do this. Unless it was the couple very recently voted out, the celebrity would probably have taken on new commitments and anyway once you have been out for a while getting back into the swing of things would be quite difficult.

Although not ideal, I suspect they'll go down the two couples in the final week. It would be massively unfair to have a week without eliminations now, if they were going to do that they had to do it the week Spoony went (and that would have been a good idea then). Voting back in couples will only work if the couples have continued training, otherwise if someone like Spoony got back in, he'd be weeks behind the others in terms of technique etc and probably be off the next week.

Still like my idea the best, keep the USA finalists in training, and bring them over for a dance off with our finalists for the last week

Something to consider is that the X factor has only 5 contestants left and it has been confirmed that will only be 2 artists in the final. This means the X factor final will probably be on 16th Dec. In order to win the ratings battle, the SCD producers will almost definitely schedule the final to be on the same night. Losing a couple a week with 3 couples in the final should therefore work out without needing to have a week without eliminations or bringing back an already eliminated couple.

Firstly, its not up to SCD producers when the final is as its people much higher at BBC1 who say how long it is.

Secondly, the BBC press office Programme Information for Saturday 9 December 2006 say the semi-finals is next week (16th) hence SCD final is on the 23rd.

The reason why it appears there will only be two is because we should have an extra couple - at the moment there should be seven left.
Tarbuck left mid-way through one week, remember?
So they will have to fill that somehow.

The BBC Programme Information for week 16-22 Dec will be publication.

The one for 9th Dec say there

"With the semi-finals drawing closer, the remaining four twinkle-toed duos take to the floor in the sequinned extravaganza"

nothing about a couple leaving.

Yes, we know.

There are four things the producers can do:

1. Bring in a new couple (but its a bit late for this now as we are over the half way mark),

2. Have no couple leave during one Saturday show,

3. Have only 2 couples in the finals,

4. Have 3 couples in the final by ending one week early (however this is not up to the produers, its up to people much higher than them at the beeb, also as the judges and Tess and Bruce have been paid to do 12 weeks it will a big problem to finish one week early).
