I think you are right that it is 'just a saturday evening light entertainment programme' and that is how the vast majority of the 9 million viewers (for the sake of argument) view it - but now you have stepped into forum world where two or three hundred people have taken that further step and bothered to look for other ways in which SCD can impact on their day-to-day lives - hence you are now amongst the committed -

- or should that read 'you now amongst those who need to be committed'?

AKW. I do think you're taking others' seriousness far too seriously!

This is true, but there are a few "Big girl's blouses."

I think youve missed the point Andy, at a time when most TV entertainment programmes are at best, dross, at least
SCD appeals to the widest possible audience who watch it
for many diverse reasons.Sure it's easy to get hooked because the show has so many differant facets-----

The competative involvement.

Following the fortunes of a particular favourite

Marvelling at the tremendous skill of all the dancers (particularly if you do dancing yourself)

The great uncertainty of what is to happen each week

Being full of admiration for the celebs, especially as you see them getting hooked on dancing.

All the changing pressures and ups and downs

Watching Bruce fluff his lines

-------- and a whole lot more

Sure, at the end of the day its only an entertainment programmes but to me its a whole lot more besides
