Some people who purchased the Sony HTK 215 home cinema kit said their sub woofer hummed. If you run a search on this kit you may get some ideas as to what the problem was.
I think someone suggested moving the sub woofer away from other electrical equipment and I think someone else thought it may be the cable, but it was a long time ago so I cannot be sure.

it might be that the subwoofer is set on max. I've noticed this with my new system you can hear it quietly rumble away even when nothing is happening, just turn it down a tad

Humming occurs in all sorts of kit - some more than others. The PB 5.1 digital theatre is reasonably priced at £129 for a surround system - you're getting pretty good VFM there, but the quality wouldn't be as good as a £1000 system, for example.
You need to decide if you can put up with the humming or spend a bit more and get a higher quality system. If you can find a way of stopping the humming, then that's a bonus! |
