I'm looking at getting a 32" hdtv.

My main use for it will be Nintendo Wii ,watching tv,watching dvd's having a video hooked up to it probably have sky plugged into it aswell and will also probably get an xbox360 or playstation 3 next year.

I've looked at afew makes and models and notice some have more Scart sockets than HDMI inputs and others have more HDMI than Scart sockets, can you tell me which is more important for me to have? and how many i would probably need?

Also is it better to run my games console through Component or Scart?
and
Would i be better getting the HDTV now or will i get the same model tv significantly cheaper in January?

Here are the basics you will need:

Look for 1080p and 1080i support..
You will need more HDMI sockets, especially if you plan on buying HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player or a sony playstation, it's safe to assume all hi-def video sources will require HDMI, without it you may find you're not getting hi-def, instead you'll get SD pictures upscaled if you're lucky.

Unless you get an AV reciever that has HDMI inputs - then your TV only really needs ONE as everything will go through the AV rec.

"Would i be better getting the HDTV now or will i get the same model tv significantly cheaper in January?"

I always tend to go for the "If i want it now (and I've researched it enough to know I want it), I buy it now" route. The problem with thinking down the "it will be cheaper in..." route when getting something like a TV / PC etc, is that in Feburary it will be even cheaper still... they march... then april will be even cheaper again! Then in may, you can get the next model up for the price you were willing to pay - then it starts all over again...

The 32" hdtv models i looked at didn't have 1080P

If i go upto 40" screen, what about this one

Sony KDL- 40X2000U

http://www.digitaldirectuk.com/produ...=10968#Scene_1

Is that any good?

Where would i find the best deal for it?

Would this 40" screen look alright at 480P playing Nintendo Wii on it?

This is abit confusing,so if i get Nintendo Wii and Xbox360 then i'll have no real need for 1080P ?

I brought a 32" HD LCD TV from Dell I looked around for months before deciding on this particular one and I am so so glad I went for this it is beyond amazing.

Not only is the picture amazing the sound is fantastic 30 watts per channel, surround sound, BBE Bass from 2 speakers with stands you can put anywhere around the room for the optimum listening experience or attatch them to the TV. Includes Freeview

The TV it self looks great too, some LCD TV's look really big, clumsy and quite ugly cheap and really plasticy. This TV is hardly any bigger than the screen its self.

I paid £749, which some might say is expensive but I paid for quality definetley. (Its now £714)

I also looked at the Samsung with a simialr price when on offer, but now about £700 - £800 or so I believe anyway

I would more than definetely reccomend this TV

Your DELL tv is quoted as having 16 milliseconds response times. If that is correct you must get all sorts of blurring on fast moving scenes, footy etc???

That response time is quick enough, anything over 20ms and you'll be lagging slightly, the picture would look awful unless the tv electronics drops frames occasionally to artificially keep the picture looking clean.

What would affect the picture more is how the tv's electronics deals with upscaling, as the LCD panel is probably of a higher resolution than a normal SD tv..

The wii can only give you 480p, no need for HD at all!

Thanks,i'm looking for something better than that but obviously more expensive.
I'm down to a choice of 2 sets now

Toshiba 32WLT68

and

Panasonic TX32LXD60

Still thinking about it,any more help or opinions on those 2 HDTV sets would be good.
