Does this exist (at a reasonable pice)?

Shortly after xmas I will be upgrading all my AV gear and am wondering if a DVD recorder with HDMI (upscaling) and surround sound package exists (all in 1 box)???

Dylan,

There are loads of HDMI DVD Recorders out there, probably the most popular would be the Panasonic DMR-EX75 or EX85 (larger HDD). You could probably get a 75 for around 300 quid.

Do you want 24 people to say "I don't know"??

Maybe a more detailed description in the subject would have helped you so people would click on it if they knew anything about what you were asking.

Hi Dylan,

Sorry didn't read your full post, I didn't realise you wanted it as a surround sound too...........I'll keep a lookout for you

Why do you want it all in one? If you chage or upgrade your DVD recorder you'll have to bin the surround amp, and vice-versa.

Hi Dylan,

LG do a few models which may fit the bill they are;

LG-LH-RH9509TA, (might be difficult to source)
LG-LH-RH361SE (might be discontined, was around £300)
LG-LH-RH760IA. (available for between £300-£400)

Hope this helps.
Martin.

Because currently I have:
1. DVD Recorder (I bought this becasue I thought the quality of my DVD Recorder on my Media PC was cr@p, but have since realised it is no worse than my DVD Recorder) Tracing, ghosting recording footy.
2. Sky+ box
3. PS2
4. XBOX 360
5. MEDIA PC (with DVD Recorder)
6. Nintendo Wii (coming on release date)
7. DVD Player with surround sound amp (and speakers connected)

So as you can guess when I get my new TV I want to consolidate a bit!!

Cheers Martin, looks very much like I will have to get one with a HDD recorder, Do you know if any of the LG models have any special features for copying from HDD to DVD?? i.e I like to record football matches and I have found with my current setup that I get a lot of tracing, ghosting problems.....

As far as I'm aware if a DVD recorder has a HDD it's a given that it can archive from the HDD to DVD, but not 100% sure about the LG's.

I would have thought this too, would be nice if the transfer of HDD to DVD happened without any tracing or picture bluring of fast moving scenes (footy!). As you can probably tell from my earlier post I am far from happy with the performance of my current DVD recorder PHILIPS DVDR3380.

I am now actually considering avoiding buying a DVD player, recorder etc in favour of spending the whole £1K on an LCD TV. Then purchasing the other AV gear at a later date

This will almost certainly be down to recording at too low a bitrate. Football requires a fast bitrate because of all the movement, SP is the absolute minimum but if you still get problems then XP may be required.

I am currently running XP as I don't have a license for media version. Therefore I am using the software that came with the card, it is quite a good card I think (not one of the £15 ones), it has it's own memory.... I am not currently at home and I can't remember the make or model, it was about £60 from PC world....

I thought if I put the bit rate up too much then the PC wouldn't be able to cope and stutter the video file it is creating??
