Hello everyone,

I'm lucky enough to have tickets for this week's show and would like some advice from people who've already been part of the audience during this series. What time do you have to arrive to be sure of getting in? I'm taking my mother who's over 80 so don't want to have to ask her to stand and queue for hours. Also, what happens between the main show and the results programme? Does the audience leave the studio or are there things going on to keep you entertained? Is there somewhere to get something to eat? How easy is it to get to speak to the judges, Bruce / Tess or any of the dancers or celebs?

Sorry to ask so many questions but all answers will be gratefully received!

There is a thread you may have to search for a good few pages but that contained loads of advise.

Hope you enjoy the show, wave at Mark for me!

I've been to see a show at the BBC before and didn't manage to get in because we got there too late. So I got there at like midday when I went mto SCD but I think that was being a little over cautious!

The earlier you can get there the better because just having a ticket doesnt guarantee you entry I am afraid as they send out more tickets than seats and some people dont turn up. As for in between the shows they take you out of the studio back to a seating area where there is a cafe that you can buy food and drink from but the also provide (for free) crisps and juice. They then take you back into the studio after a break of about 40 mins to an hour (depending on how long there is between shows) and run through the elimination show and the pro dance.

Hope that helps though sorry I cant be more specific about what time to get there - I arrived at 9am tho cant expect your mum to sit on the pavement till they let you in!!!

As for talking to the judges, Bruce and Tess I would say impossible.

Pros and celebs slightly easier but when I went they were stopping people going onto the dance floor where most of the pros and celebs were so didnt get to speak to them, except the ones who had managed to make it off the floor (does that make sense??)

Hope that helps you a little

Besides the excellent description on another thread on this forum, you can also find descriptions elswhere. Here's someone's blog of "An evening at Strictly Come Dancing":

That guy also has a few snaps on his page, taken from the balcony, using a mobile phone (though he also explains that proper cameras are not allowed in).

Thanks for your replies everyone. I did try looking for a thread on this topic but couldn't find one so that was why I posted - I'll have another look. As for how I got tickets - well I phoned from 9am on the day they were made available. Finally got through about lunchtime to be told they'd all gone but my name would be put on a waiting list for 25 November. I didn't expect to hear any more but last week an envelope containing 4 tickets dropped through my letterbox! I'm really looking forward to it. I'll blow Mark some kisses (I'm sure he'll be thrilled!) and let you know how it all went next week.

It you arrive between 12pm and 1pm, then you'll probably get in. It's a long wait though so I'd advise taking folding chairs/mats etc. If you're in the first 30ish in the queue, you get to sit on the ground floor, which is much better for getting onto the dancefloor afterwards, but your view may be slightly obstructed by cameras.

There are production people around the dancefloor after the show trying to stop the audience getting on there, but it's easy to get round them (just act brave and look like you know the dancers/celebs). Most of the dancers/celebs stay on after the show to chat to the audience/friends/family and they are willing to sign autographs and chat and have pictures taken.

You get told not to take pictures during the show, but it's possible to afterwards, so do take your camera. I even took a sneaky shot during the break between the two shows, and only got a mild admonishing by a production staff member (she smiled at me sweetly and said, "no photos please".)

It might be worth phoning the ticket office and/or the SCD production office and explaining that your mother is 80 and just see if you can get any special treatment. I wouldn't hold your breath though. There was a lady in the queue behind us who was about that age and had brought a folding chair which you can then put in the cloakroom during the performance. Have a great time. It was a wonderful experience!

I've got tickets for 2nd December - they arrived this morning. I was convinced I didn't have a chance so am now very very excited!! I think I'm planning on getting to the BBC at about 1pm. I don't want to stand around in the cold unnecessarily but certainly don't want to risk not getting in!

I arrived there at 2.30 and i think we were number 30 or 40 or something so we got in easily. In between shows they rehearse the results show and theres time to go eat some snacks. Also cameras are not allowed til after the show, found out when i got told off by this woman and was luckily rescued by brendan who i had asked to take his photo. (so it was his fault)
