Biggest week of album releases for years
But who will get the Number 1 out of that lot. I reckon U2. |

Dunno.
All those groups are very popular. I'd put my money on Westlife. No matter what garbage they put out, no matter who they're up against, they always get to number one. Plus, I'd imagine that there are more important things to Beatles, U2 & Oasis fans than getting their band to No.1. A lot "Westlifers" will probably buy about 10 copies each for this purpose. Also, the Westlife one is the only "new" album, with the rest being compilations. Well, I use the word "new" loosely as it's likely all covers. |

I hope The Beatles obviously, and if it was as successful as "1" back in the christmas period of 2000, it would wipe the floor with the other 3.....but this album isn't, its more for Beatles fans than the wider audience.
Back in 2000, the Beatles competition was also Oasis and Westlife, and sold far more than both combined. But Oasis' album was aimed more at fans being a live album.....this time its a greatest hits package, so Oasis will edge it this time. The Beatles "Love" album is however the best value for money of all 4.....it contains the most songs, the better songs AND its more original than U2's and Oasis's greatest hits, and more so than all those Westlife covers. |

According to this morning's news, The Beatles are ahead of Oasis, but only just!! I'd be appalled if Westlife beat any of them though.

You've got a choice of 4 albums.....2 albums with songs you've heard before and lazily put on to another CD, 1 album of songs you've heard before with Westlife ruining them! OR.....an album of the most songs, re-mixed, re-mastered of some of the greatest songs in existence: Strawberry Fields, Day in the Life, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Revolution etc etc.... ....if the UK public had any sense, "Love" would outsell the rest of the top 10 combined.... |

"Re-issue! Re-package! Re-package!
Re-evaluate the songs Double-pack with a photograph Extra Track (and a tacky badge)" Makes me sick to be honest....especially when there are so many good new artists around getting no promotion..... |

With the Oasis album, you may as well just go and buy Def Maybe and Morning Glory. U2 aren't offering anything new, and Westlife will never offer anything original or worthwhile. |

I wonder which album will lead the European-wide charts. Be interesting to see. Last edited by BeatleGod : 21-11-2006 at 11:58. |

I would predict Oasis will be number one. Its their first greatest hits (I think) and they have a loyal fanbase, as well as large numbers of people (like myself) who like a few of their best songs and will buy the album. Westlife have released 7 albums in 7 years, they will probably still do more than 200,000 though.

U2 are completely out of the race, behind George Michael
It looks like Westlife vs Oasis, and its alot closer than I would have thought, if only 1300 albums separate them. Either way, both are selling well, over 50,000 in one day is very good.
