Please move if in wrong place of forum

I own a recordedable Dvd Player that has a hard drive inside so you can record onto a Blank DVD DISK or a hard drive.

I don't mind recording onto my hard drive if i'm recording a soap or a not so important show that you will delate once you watched it the 1st time, but i like 2 record movies then keep them on disc or something, but i found when i program my recordable DVD Player to record straight onto a blank disc and not the hard drive i find if the blank disc has so much as a bit of dust on or a stratch it will stop recording in the middle of where-ever the recording is up to, so now i have to record onto my Hard drive first (buy rewritable dvd disks which is not a problem) and then copy my film or whatever i especially want to keep on disk from the hard drive to my recordable disk and hope for the best and hope it don't stop recording because of a bit of fluff or statach on the disk, and if their is i have 2 erase that blank disk then open a new blank dvd and hope this disk copies without stopping!!

This wates time and i have 2 copy lets say a 2hour movie onto a blank disc working around the time i have left before my dvd player is timed 2 record another tv show or film!

Their must be a way 2 tape or record straight onto a blank disc without first having to record onto the hard drive and then copying to disk and then when it is copying onto blank disk risk it stopping in the middle of its recording because the disk got an mark/ staratch on it by mistake, or risk it doing this when you record straight onto disk!

There must be a way 2 record straight to blank dvd disk without any problems and not involve the hard drive if you dont want 2!

i only use the hard drive so i don't risk losing any of the recording as if i recorded straight to disk it may stop, and if the disk stops while copying i don't have 2 worry i know i still have my recording backed up on the hard drive and i can keep copying onto disk till it does it properly but i everytime i have recorded or copied 2 disk its never done it the whole way though no matter if the blank disc is new or old!

please help!!!

TBH it sounds like your main problem is the quality of the recordable DVD discs you are using. I suggest you try some different brands.

Not at all clear why you think you have to use rewritable discs though.

Does your DVD recorder not let you do high speed copy? What model do you have? I always record to the HDD first then copy across.

Agree with Gomezz that you have a problem with either the disks or the recorder (probably compatibily problem), it should not be that unreliable.

Why don't you clean your blank DVDs before putting them in the recorder? Where do you keep them - under the bed? Most unused blank DVDs don't come with scratches and bits of fluff on them.

I have an LG recordable DVD recorder and my Dvd recorder does let you use high speed. If i use the EP mode my rewritable discs can go from 2 hours 2 fit 5 hours on them so the discs are good!

Can i ask you why do you record onto the Hard drive and then copy them like me if you don't have a problem recording straight to disk if you don't mind me asking??

as if other people are doing it too maybe i'm ok recording onto the Hard drive then copying onto disk i thought that was wrong if i wanted them 2 go straight 2 disk???

Also this is an off the topic question a bit but if you record onto your hard dribe lets say in SQ speed and then diecied to copy them 2 disk in EQ spped can this work?

Can you copy to disk in a diffrent speed to what you recored them onto the hard drive in??

i used to have them under my bed but now some are in a cupboard and some r in my worebrobe as i have a massive worebrobe!! They not under my bed no more but no matter where they were kept the blank discs are always kept in a the case so that wouldn't be why they got strachs and stuff on them??

I have a Sky+ and a non-HDD DVDR which amounts to basically the same set up.

The main reason for recording to HDD first is that when finding programs to watch there is a really good indexing system, much better than messing about finding the correct DVD to put in.

Basically, you can run the majority of your recorded viewing in this way and then do a high speed dub to disk for the stuff you want to keep - (at least you can do this quickly, I have to copy to disk in real time from my Sky+).

Rgds,

It just works out easier that way once you get used to it. Also if you make a mistake you can correct it by re-recording without throwing away a disk. You can also remove adverts etc at this stage, if your DVDR lets you do a high speed copy of edited files then you can get better PQ this way. You can do a mass copy from Sky+ overnight as well, then split them.

as if other people are doing it too maybe i'm ok recording onto the Hard drive then copying onto disk i thought that was wrong if i wanted them 2 go straight 2 disk???
Either way is correct, it's personal preference.

Yes you can do this. The main problem is that this will mean a decode-recode cycle lowering the quality, the best way is high speed copy which is also quicker. Whether the reduction in quality is a problem is a personal choice.

There is a variety of ways to achieve getting a recording onto a DVD. The best way is always the way which suits you and gives you the best enjoyment from your kit.
