Samsung R7, M73, F71 Dynamic dimming fault

Many people have noticed the flickering problem with the R7 series using SCART input but does anyone know if this happens on either the M73 or F71 series TVs?

To stop my R74 from flickering I have had to turn off Dynamic Dimming and use Movie mode, the result is the picture looks washed out and I have had enough. If I can I will get a refund but if I do should I get a newer Samsung or do they all suffer from the same design problem?

Does the N7 have the same problem?

why dont you just turn dynamic dimming off in the secret service menu? or reconfigure the Movie contrast/brightness, colour tone etc to your liking?

Its a feature - not a design fault, it is what allows them to quote a contrast as 3000:1, otherwise it is 800:1

Personally I have reconfigured movie mode to my liking.

roughly:

Contrast 90, brightness 50, sharpness 50, colour 35, energy saving medium or low (depending on lighting) and colour tone cool1.

Thanks Corf but when the service guy came out he replaced the main card and because that did not fix it he also tuned off dynamic dimming and the power saving modes and it still flickered so he is coming back with a power supply and a LCD panel.
In the mean time I found that switching to Movie mode makes it much better.
Because of what has been done it is impossible to get a good picture, its too bright, you can't see much detail in dark areas and the picture looks a bit fuzzy and that is the best I can get out of it.
It seems stupid to pay so much for a TV only to be told you can't use all the functions. After all, if you bought a new car you would expect it to have more than 1 working gear and a radio that played out of more than 1 speaker.
I guess you can tell that I have had about enough.

I've just got the L32R73 and am impressed with the 'dynmaic dimming' Think it's great for dimming harsh channel DOGs when there's dark pictures!

I'd call it intelligence - not a fault! Sorry, but that's my opinion!

The problem is that on a dark picture with a small bright area, the whole screen can flicker, this is only noticable on SCART input but when it does it is very bad. The only way I can get rid of it is to use Movie Mode.

Try this and see if you get the same result, find a DVD that has a picture with a dark screen and a small bright area then step, frame by frame and look at the small bright bit, it may flicker just a bit but it can get much worse
