DECT with reduced signalling events?
I am trying to reduce "electrosmog" in my home so have eliminated wireless devices. However I do miss my DECT phone set and I read that you can buy systems that do not send out signals between the modules until you use it. As we don't use voice phone a lot, that should be ideal.
Has anyone heard of this? |

Electrosmog?
Your house is awash with radio signals even if you aren't producing any (e.g. I assume you have no cellphones or routers either). There are at least 10 terrestrial TV channels, a plethora of broadcast radio channels, a similar plethora of satellite channels, numeous PMR channels, (police) Tetra, etc. etc. etc. Living in London probably means you are living in one of the most 'radio-splattered' cities in the world. Wouldn't it be easier to wear a tinfoil suit and a saucepan on your head?

Sorry I didn't come back to this thread before, I was waiting for the site to send me an update email! Oh well.
Anyway, I have one of those machines that make a noise when it picks up a signal, and the noise it made when I held it near our DECT phone was very different and much louder everything else I held it near, even TV sets! This was only matched in strength (but not rhythm) by something the house next door has, which I think might be their baby monitor. But anyway that's only loud in our corridor and has weakened a lot by the time we go into a room. However as we want handsets in many of the rooms, the DECT signal in our house would be in all of them. I want to buy a new set of DECTs and I would have been interested to try out the ones I read about that were unfortunately not named by brand. |

Simple scientific fact is that you're exposed to a hell of a lot more RF every day that you'd get from any DECT phone, wi-fi router or even mobile phone.
Life's too short to be worrying about the media-induced panic de jour. |

Please, I wasn't looking to reopen this old debate. It's fun to experiment with new technology if it's available, I don't want to always wait for "scientists" to pontificate on it. Sometimes I want to try things out for myself and see what *I* experience.
