Warner has just announced plans to release the first 3" DVDs to hit the consumer market come this spring. An approved specification of the DVD spec, these "mini-DVDs" (think Dunkin' Munchkins made out of plastic) have a diameter 2 inches shorter than a standard DVD, and can hold about 50% of the capacity (exact storage specs unavailable at presstime.) And like their big brothers, these 3"ers can also be single or dual-layered. But if you're concerned about compatibility issues, rest assured that these 3" beauties should play in all consumer DVD players and ROM drives.
