Paul O'Grady's programme
Montmorency
23-11-2006
I was surprised to see Mel of the Spice Girls and Paul O'Grady touting for votes for Emma Bunton on his programme last night.
Is it usual for the friends of the competitors to do this?
It doesn't seem quite right somehow.
I haven't seen anyone else do it.

Or do you know better?

It's not a big deal.

You bet we will see Eastenders cast and cricketeers etc. expressing support too if they get asked.

Unless that was the only reason Mel was on the show??

Montmorency (love the name) see the ITT threads- Mel has been on their nearly every day telling us all how fantastic Emma is and how she will win! Also the Friday ITT panel is largely made up of her friends and relatives- this is why some people won't vote for her- the beeb pushing her. Some people don't agree tho- for all the Bunton bunnies this is not a bashing merely a long explanation!

We must remember that Mel C is trying to revive her shocking solo career!

Claire King was on his show the other evening so I guess it's fair enough.

The only person Mel C is trying to promote is herself!

Well there's always the kiddycard - the family mined option to cutting your dress as short as poss.

Perhaps I am confused but do I recall a whole cricket team or two appearing last year - not to mention some of them even dancing on ITT!!!

Not to mention Denise Lewis supporting her great friend Colin last year and then being bullied into changing her allegiance to Zoe and Ian!!!

But they were all on ITT a programme dedicated to SCD, not a completely separate programme. It is different, surely.

I just can't work out why Emma's life is so busy that her friends are being used to support her. It appears that she already getting more than her fair share of exposure on ITT. Not particularly with her own appearances but with friends appearing; being mentioned everytime Louisa appears ("I vote for Emma"). Even the infamous David Cassidy interview when she was mentioned and it was obvious he had never seen the programme other than the clips provided by ITT.

I don't think its Emma wanting them to say this!
I don't know how many of you have seen CarolCam but she brought up a remarkable point! ITT interviewed her husband and tried to force him into saying how much he hasted CRH for his comments about Carols AS and how he wanted to punch him but Carol's hubby refused to say this!!!!!
Perhaps ITT encouraged David Cassidy to say this!!
As for Mel C....shes just using this oppotunity to promote her own career! You know, start off on ITT saying she's supporting Emma then close the show screechin her song!

They dont need to do all this nonsense- it's a good show and the standard of dancing is really good. There's not much to choose between any of the dancers IMHO.

All the hype does is put people off.

Couldn't agree more, it definitely spoils it for me. Just wish the Beeb wouldn't condone/encourage it

WHAT? I am appalled!!! I am getting rapidly turned off by the behaviour of the producers on SCD. All this gossip and fighting is turning me off, especially if it is all fabricated just to improve the viewing numbers. It is getting like a pantomine!! Perhaps Jan's husband didn't approach CRH in the bar as was reported by the press. What can we believe? How awful to approach someone's husband and try and cause trouble!!

Don't know if you've ever watched, its a revelation !

http://www.carolsmillie.tv/SCD_carol_smillie.htm

Open the video player (click the little button, sometimes takes a couple of clicks and it will go red).

Then look for Week 7 Diary piece 3. Click the little button (it goes green). Carol is sitting in her car.

My own take is that the BBC is playing this game with everyone. My husband, the cynic, thinks the BBC production team have a sweep going on in the office as to how much they can influence the "dumb" voters.

I don't believe the majority of the GBP will be swayed by whoever is touting for votes on mainstream tv. I think the majority vote for what they perceive as the best dance on the night or the couple that has entertained the most, which imho is the right way to go.

Every time I hear Mel C say Emma's gonna win it I feel like voting for everyone but Emma.

I'd just like to add having watched Carol's studio practises we could do with her camera operator doing the camera work for the BBC.

Plugging for votes is nothing new. I don't think voters will be swayed if they already have their favourites.

Oh I couldnt agree more!
But no amount of complaining to the BBC makes much difference.

Thanks for the link to the Carol cam.
What a pleasure to see the whole of the cha cha- and both dancers at the same time. Also caught sight of a scuttling camera man whizzing past .That explains a lot.
So the BBC staff are no better than tabloid press - trying to create fuss.
That's very disappointing- as of the show isnt good enough to stand alone, without all that rubbish.

The audience is being underesimated

Glad you found Carolcam enlightening

Most of us in Cutlerworld have been watching it for weeks.... it's such a brilliant idea and why most of us in their thread have become so enamoured of them.... by being able to see something of the real Team Cutler.

It's a shame the other celebs don't have a similar place where we can see the things we actually want to see, i.e. training clips and interaction between the couples.

Take note of how it should be done ITT

You're right!
I think if all the couples had a similar system- I wouldnt watch SCD.I find the old fashionedness of it irritating- the cheesy smiles ,false catch phrases and over sparkly lighting to be rather 1950s- though I do like some of the frocks.

Watching the dancing and the couple intently studying what they are doing rather than looking orange & grinning was refreshing.
