DVD RAM to DVD +/-R??
Hi
I've just backed up some old VHS recordings onto DVD RAM on my new Panny DVD recorder. I chose DVD RAM because it allowed me to create chapters within titles - very handy for 2 hr+ titles. I have tried to play the DVD RAM discs in other DVD players in my house (including a relatively new laptop) and none of them read the disc. There is no option to finalise DVD RAM discs on the DVD recorder. Problem is I want to transfer this onto a bog standard DVD-/+R so that I can play it on another DVD player in the house and also to free up the DVD RAM discs for other projects. Any suggestions? |

PC DVD-writer that can read/write DVD-RAM,DVD+R and DVD-R. Then use Nero or whatever to copy DVD discs. Load the DVD RAM as the source disc, but put DVD+Rs or DVD-Rs in as the destination disc.

Panasonic make DVD players that can play RAM discs but be aware that playing DVD RAM discs on anything other than a DVD recorder will result in any edit points you have freezing the picture momentarily at each edit point.
Your right about RAM its fantastic for editing. I use two Panny machines record and edit on RAM then copy finished result on to DVD-R via a second machine....This way there are no edit point picture freezing problems... If you have the cash the best solution is a Panny with a hard drive....Record to RAM edit then and copy to DVD-R all in one machine.......Bit late now as you have already invested in a new machine....
