HDMI DVD Player
I brought a Philips HD DVD player this week (I have a HD tv of course) all this fuss about HD and it being amazing, I thought I was going to blown away but Im quite dissapointed
I think the sound is amazing much better than my previous DVD player but I can't really see much difference in the picture if any I have connected using a HDMI cable and it shows as a resolution of 1080 any thought or comments |

Images from budget upscaling players are certainly nowhere near HD quality.

You would have probably seen better results by adding a little to your budget and going for a non upscaling player. Have you tried the component connection? Is your TV compatible with component? You may get a better image. Try the interlaced/progressive scan options if you can. |

Try the interlaced/progressive scan options if you can (Whats this)

Try the interlaced/progressive scan options if you can (Whats this) ![]() Basically interlaced is two fields, odd/even, 1080i will be shown as 2 x 540 lines. 1080p will be shown as a single field of 1080 lines. Definitely worth a go. Many of the lower priced players are a bit of a let down with their upscaling abilities, better results have been reported when connecting via the component connection. |
