Regardless of whether they are complete or not, I'm sure several people on this site would be appreciative if you uploaded what you have of the first edition from 1989.

It would certainly be interesting to see the shows debut on Saturday Mornings!

I'm sure people would like it if you put some screenshots up of the other episodes. e.g. 21st December 1991 and the 1993 - 1994.

Very good stuff James! They certainly went through a few changes with the graphics throughout the year. And rather ironic that the first show got the number 1 single wrong for the first time of many!

I have lots of old editions, but it is nice to see them actually on tv again. I'm sure I've just spotted Nick Miles, a.k.a. Emmerdale's Jimmy King in the song that was No. 6 in the Indie Chart.

Looks like May 25th 1996. IIRC this was the first (or at least one of the first) editions after the 1996 relaunch.

Some good stuff on today, In A Room by Dodgy takes me back, I have the CD single knocking around somewhere.

Ah; it felt like it was from the summer of 1996 but I didn't know exactly when.

I always felt that 1996 was a pretty decent musical year, and although I didn't see the whole of today's programme I did like most of the songs I did see (like the Dodgy track someone mentioned above and Fastlove by George Michael) so it was a good show.

Speaking about The Vault in general, though, has anybody felt that the channel has seemed to be playing many more archive videos in relation to current stuff than they used to be doing?

I watched a bit of their 80s night last night and there were a lot of classic videos and rare hidden gems featured, so it's definitely a very good thing if they are focusing more on the archive stuff now.

They recently launched a "no repeats in 24 hours" policy, so that's likely the reason. They were running a promotion saying as such, but that seems to have stopped now.

Today's edition was indeed the second one to be broadcast with the new graphics. In fact I used to have this edition on VHS which I was rather stupid enough to tape over.

Seeing episodes from this era on the Vault isn't the same as I used to like the music used in the Twix stings used before the ad breaks and the one at the end of the programme which had it in headphones with a bright sunny background.

The ones before and after the ad-breaks had it zooming out and then in from the large logo at the beginning of the titles which has been cut from the Vault.

Though obviously if they were to show the Twix logos, they'd get into a lot of trouble. I still wonder why they remove the Video Visuals logo at the end though- it's their own logo!

Same here, definitely a summer to remember.
Every track seemed to be brilliant in '96 like In A Room by Dodgy, Femal Of The Species by Space, The Day We Caught The Train by Ocean Colour Scene, Something For The Weekend by The Divine Comedy and many many more.

It was also the summer of footy and The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Radio 1.

I certainly had an introduction to some really good acts because of the Chart Show. As well as the ones in today's show there was Kula Shaker, Super Furry Animals and Air who were brought to my attention before everybody was raving about them.

I'm sure the Super Furry Animals also had a song called "Something For The Weekend" in that same year!

Why would they get into trouble? Have the rules about advertising changed since then?

Twix had a contract to sponsor the Chart Show back then so if they were to show their logos now they wouldn't get the sponsorship royalties. That's what I'd presume anyway.
