THE CHART SHOW 1st July 1989

SONIA -- You'll Never Stop Me From Loving You
A common mistake, along with Simply The Best and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. Although these are the words used in the chorus the actual song title is You'll Never Stop Me Loving You. Can anyone think of any other songs where the incorrect titles are regularly used (excluding those which just omit words in brackets)?

Yes I made the Sonia mistake before on my charts.

New Kids never actually sing You Got It do they they sing "You Got the right stuff" and of course Lisa Stansfield doesn't sing "All Around The World"

Wow. It's been a while since I've posted in this thread. I was wondering if any of you Chart Show fans can give me a hand.

You might remember a few years ago, I created "Chart Show 2008" which was essentially a project I made combining 1998 CS material with modern music and charts. However, a couple of the parts I uploaded to Youtube and got done for infringement - alas, my entire account has been closed now for about a year or two.

(Feel free to jog your memory: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...t+show&page=24)

I was intending on starting this back when I made this one, but never got around to it until now. I'm doing the same thing (for something to do out of boredom) but this time in 1995 style. As you can imagine, it's a lot more complex as 1998 was simply sting, then song, then sting etc. None of this overlaying business.

I was hoping to show it to you guys as a bit of an early Christmas present but I know I'll get bollocked if I upload it to Youtube. Does anybody know which video uploading website allows people to upload videos without any content surveillance and no time limits? Many thanks in advance.

I guess posting that at 11:55pm wasn't the best thing to do, so it gets lost in the forums

Excellent job Jay! Very professionally done. I guess if they did do a new version you'd have to update the graphics and music so it doesn't seem so cheesy. But the concept works. Can easily it slotting in to T4's Saturday mornings. If they're happy to do 3 and a half hour long versions of the chart show why can't they do an hour long highlights. Some of the cuts were a bit brutal though - there's no point in playing one minute of a featured video surely.

Every time this thread gets posted in I keep hoping it's news of the repeats coming back, only to get sorely disappointed...

I see your point AcerBen. I wanted to try having two specialist charts but obviously, that makes it harder to keep everything within a suitable time frame.

Wow I'm really impressed Jay with your home made chart show video. I do hope you make a home made chart show version from 1989-1991. That would be also awesome !!

The person who put together Peter Kay's Top 43 Greatest Comedy Moments last night must have been a Chart Show fan aswell as there was lots of forwarding, rewinding & pausing in that.

When are we going to see the 1986-1990 Chart Show episodes ? It would be nice if every1 chipped in & bought The Vault a 1" reel video machine so they can show them all starting with 11 April 1986 in weekly order as they were originally broadcast, Maybe if Vintage TV or ITV3 showed them on saturdays at 11.30am in the original time slot it may work out better..

The thing is also The Vault has gone downhill & now playing too much modern junk & should just stick to music from the 70s to the 90s & let Chart Show TV cater for the rest including the recent chart music..

It would be nice to see the chart shows from 1986-1988 again...

That includes REWIND which they used when The Chart Show was on strike between June & August 1986 which played oldies from other music TV shows such as Loose Talk from 1983 & Ear Say from 1984 & used the chart show mock video credits..

But will we ever ?

If BBC4 since last April have been showing Top Of The Pops from April 1976 through to January 1977 so far in its original time slot on thursdays at 7.30pm there is no reason why ITV3 shouldn't repeat all the Chart Shows in date order from April 1986 onwords maybe if they were to start in april that would be a great idea...

Isn't there the issue of clearance? I think The Vault gets away with it because it's owned by the company that made it, and it probably has the rights to broadcast the music featured in the shows. I doubt ITV care that much about it to sort that out.

Jay is right, The Vault channel have the exclusive rights to show The Chart Show, as it is made by the same company. However the Vault channel are not going to show early chart show episodes, if they think not many people are going to watch it, even if people offer to pay the vault channel for a 1" reel video machine. Plus maintaining a 1" reel video machine costs money. These machines need maintenance as they're very old and I don't think the vault channel are prepared to pay for it, unless they are guaranteed that their investment will bring returns.
