I think that's what this is probably about - he's probably been teased about it and doesn't like it (+ he may or may not be quietly seeing someone). As has been said by you and Bart, Nikki never actually said she was seeing him - she made it clear she fancied him (which he says he knew about) and would've loved to see him. He should just take it as a compliment.

Nikki is ten times better, no retract that, a hundred times better.

Even if she was the worst singer in the world she would still make me laugh.

I like the Judge on the panel, she would tell it like it was.

I do not think the interview is negative for Nikki at all. Duncan back up what Nikki said in the Heat interview at the time. He says she is good fun and nice. He only says they never were going out, but still says he would like to be her friend. If you read the interview in the context, it does sound bad at all.

I agree phil - a lot of this is to do with Duncan wanting publicity and he doesn't really come out of it looking particularly good.

If the report of the article was right - I like him saying that he saw Nikki and was star struck though!

I havent read the interview myself just what ive read on here but i will be getting one now so i can read it for myself as there seems to be conflicting versions of how it comes across

If you think about it you're right Eleana. It is actually quite complimentary.

He says nothing was ever gonna happen between them, was a nice person and was in awe of her character, would love her to be a friend but nothing more.

Just before saying this he's asked if he's been in touch with her since he came back and he says no it's best to leave it as it is, he was just trying to be nice and has no intention of contacting her now.

Apart from saying she was great, funny and in awe of her character I didn't read his interview as being particularly nice. But that's my take on it.

Duncan James is a big tart anyway. He says one nice thing about a girl one week, then when the next bit of skirt catches his eye, she's the next one to get the compliment. I bet his phone book is bursting at the seams.

Nikki's well out of it I'd say.

No. I think it's best to leave it. I was just trying to be nice. I have no intention of contacting her now.

Did she text you while you were away?
No. (Pauses.) But then I read somewhere that I'd dumped her!

Nothing is ever going to happen between us. I just thought she was a nice person and I was in awe of her character. I'd love her to be a friend, but I don't want anything more. And I don't want our conversations to be documented in every magazine.

thanks eleana - that sounds OK but I agree that its open to interpretation - depends how he said it not what he said

He certainly sounds positive that he doesn't want to see her but then that's the way to do it - firmly - and hope the media don't bang on about it for evermore. What actually happens between them then is private - not that I'm suggesting anything is going on or will do

I get the impression that he was fed up with the media who claimed they were going out and then that he dumped her rather than Nikki.

He also didn't need to tell Heat that Tara thinks Nikki is too low rent for him. He says he told Tara no she's great fun. But by repeating the low rent quote he's being unnecessarily disrespectful.

He says when he told her he was going travelling he told her he was going away forever! Obviously he wasn't but the implication being he was trying to avoid her.

He's not slagging her off but it's things like that that I don't think are nice for Nikki.

I was a huge fan of Big Brother and thought she was hysterical. I wanted her to win. So when I saw her during the interval on 11 October last year, I just wanted to speak to her to see what she was like.

At the aftershow patry you were chatting all night...
My friend and her friend started talking, then we began chatting and having a few drinks. It was all innocent.

What were you talking about?
I was just asking about Pete and the Big Brother experience. I told her I thought she was great. She said, "Oh, you're so sweet". Then I said, "Come on, let's all have a dance". We just had giggle really. She was doing all her tantrum faces and making us laught. Taht was it.

Did you fancy her?
No.

Could you tell she liked you?
I'd heard from someone that she fancied me, so I kind of knew.

I seem to recall that in some amagazine, Nikki sais that after the aftershow party she went to some nightclub with Duncan and Tara and said she only remembered talking to Tara - owing to the amount of alcohol she consumed!

(Looking hurt)No, I wasn't playing up to her. I wouldn't do that I wasn't trying to give her a false impression, I was just being nice back. I never kissed the girl or did anything to suggest I wanted to date her.

She said you texted her the next day and said, "What are you up to tonight?"
(Shakes head.)No, I said to her that night "I'm going out tomorrow night for a friend's birthday. If you're in town come out, there's loads of us going. The boys will be there, it'll be fun." But she said she had her wrap patry for Princess Nikki. So the next evening I sent her text saying, "How the patry?"

She was really making me laugh. She couldn't remember how she'd lost her shoe-she was going round London in a cab, trying to find it.
