Anonymous Call Every 3 Hours Exactly
BBRealist

Hi all,

Getting a call with no caller ID to my mobile exactly every 3 hours and 2 minutes, which started at just after 10PM last night. Rings for a matter of seconds then stops.

Has anyone else had this?

I seriously doubt it's coming from the UK as my phone is registered with TPS and in any case unsolicited calling at that time is illegal, however it's an automated call of some description as it's exactly 3 hours and 2 minutes between each call.

Will be waiting for the next one and will try and answer it (due in 1.5 hours) unless anyone has any other recommendations.

It's on the 3 network so a waste of time phoning Bangalore and asking them to do anything about it. They were hopeless about a previous issue I had with unwanted calls a few months ago.

Predictably pathetic response from 3.

Phone the police if it gets too annoying and the police will investigate and trace the call. 3 apparently have no idea of the sources of the calls coming in to my mobile. I am not entirely sure how they manage to run a circuit switched phone network without this information but apparently they are unable to see the source numbers.

It could, apparently, be a marketing company phoning me every 3 hours and 2 minutes throughout the night. Though you'd have thought they'd actually wait a few rings before ringing off, and would pay attention to the Telephone Preference Service lists.

*Sigh*

You can sometimes get the call logged if it was the last number to contact you, then only way to get something done is call the police because as far as i am aware you can not bar 1 number calling you.

it may be different on other networks tho

I doubt the UK police will do much if the calls are originating from outside the UK as the OP suspects.

Probably the only way to stop them is to change your number if it becomes really annoying, but chances are it's just a call centre and even if you do catch the call, there won't be anyone available on the other end. Normally the calls stop after a few days, either because they are available and do catch you, or because they get fed up getting no answer.

They should be able to trace the origin or the telephone company and report it as abuse.

Probably one of those automated machine calls, we had silent calls a while, scared my mum a little.

I really can't understand why people would buy from a company that uses these tactics, if people knew that this kitchen company were making silent calls and frightening people they surely wouldn't.

It makes you feel like getting together with banners outside the shop or warehouse and making an example of them and inviting the press along.

I think they would stop starpish if a group of people did that.

I'm sure the staff in a 3 High Street Store will only be too happy to help you - they are always trying to help me when I go in to have a look!!! They approach me the split second I enter.

I had a 3 contract once, very persuasive when you want to end the contract. Got offered all sorts to try and keep me with them, got transfered to lots of departments.

Maybe try being on the phone to someone when they ring and it might prompt the computer to stop trying if it gets an engaged tone.

Just imagine the sorts of calls you could be getting if you by a sim card on E-bay, where they advertise the individual numbers! That surely can't be a good idea to buy a sim card off there that shows the number?!
