Wharfedale DV832BN
I have very recently bought a Wharfedale DV832BN and it works just fine when using it to receive digital and watch it at the same time. My problem is that I like to record programs on my VCR and I can't work out just how to do this.
The manual states that when it in standby mode, the VCR is connected to the TV. This works fine when replaying a video but it doesn't record. I have tried using auto tune on the VCR to see if it just needs to be reset to find a signal from the set top box but it finds nothing. The only way that I can record on my VCR at the moment is to reconnect the arial leads to the VCR and use it as if the set top box wasn't there (very frustrating). I would also like to record channels from the set top box as well which should be possible. It would be most helpful if someone can point this very new user in the right direction. Many thanks |

Hi, I'm a bit confused.
The Wharfedale is a freeview box, and you want to record from that onto VCR. Is that right? Does it have scart? Ie : can you connect a scart between the VCR and the set top box. Also, how many scarts does the set top box have. The ideal solution would be: VCR: Scart OUT to the television's scart IN, Scart IN to the set top box Scart OUT Set top box: Scart OUT to VCR, Scart OUT to TV's scart IN Does that make sense. It'd be easier with a diagram! If the set top doesn't have 2 scart outs, and the tv doesn't have two scart ins, then you could watch the set top box through the video channel on the tv, if that makes sense. I have one of these boxes connected to my HDD-DVDR so the same linkup should work for a VCR I think .
I have set it up so the scart lead goes from the Wharfedale's TV scart socket (better for RGB. If you don't have that then use the VCR/AUX scart socket) to the DVDR's scart input (Aux/Line3), then a scart goes from the ->TV scart (Line1) on the DVDr to the TV's scart socket (my tv only has one!). The outdoor aerial connects to the Ant In on the Wharfedale box, then a connecting aerial lead from the Wharfie's TV Out goes to the DVDR's Aerial In, then an aerial lead goes from the DVDR's Aerial Out to the TV's Ant In so the TV can still receive analogue signals. Your VCR should have an Aux or EXT1/2 capability (?) and should detect the signal from the Wharfedale when the box is switched on. To record from the box you need to set up a programmed recording time and the channel req'd in the Wharfedale's Menu /Timer. Set it to switch on a couple of minutes before your VCR's programme recording timer kicks in and a couple of mins after the VCR finishes too. The VCR's programmed recording timer (which you also have to set up) should be set to have the AUX or EXT channel (whatever it receives the signal through) as the source to be recorded from. The Wharfedale box will switch itself on and then switch itself off afterwards. I can watch the Freeview through the DVDR if necessary, but I prefer to either watch either the TV with Freeview or the recordings made on the DVDR. Hope this helps

Hello again! You asked the same question in this post:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=489028 Did the answers not solve your problem ? If not, what isn't working ? |
