He was slagging off his groupies, not his fans.

Which would be understandable. Groupies are insane. Fans arn't.

I don't think he was slagging off his fans just pointing out there were some 'strange' ones.

Did he?
Wouldnt surprise me.
He's a **** and a big headed one at that.

His ill gotten ego is bigger than David Gest's!!

I don't think he was doing that at all. Groupies are different to fans. Hes talking about people who harrass him rather than people who are genuine fans.

Hmmm bad move if his fans do take offense, frankly I think they are the only people keeping him in there, existing fans rather than people who like him from being on this show.

tbh.. he did refer to '200 girls' and said 'all of them'

Bad move, in my opinion.

I agree! I know some of them. Cant stand the artist, but will do anything to get a photo taken with them -GROUPIES!! Not genuine fans at all.

Having said that I was no Busted fame. Very overrated indeedy!

When I was much younger I did use to follow a certain band (who shall remain namless to preserve my dignity!) around odd t.v. studios, see if I could get anautograph but i would never have considered going to their hotel floor or their house- thats crossing the line of privacy.

Thats the difference between fan and groupie!

I thought it was fairly clear that he was talking about the people who stalk you/hang around the hotel lifts to grab a piece of you as opposed to the people who buy your records and ask for your autograph occasionally.

Come on, admit it, there are some very strange people out there.

I thought the story of the girl in the wheelchair was a bit thoughtless. A lot of wheelchair users, myself included, use a chair to get from A to B, but then get out and walk a bit. The fact that when he saw her unexpectedly at a bar she had her chair with her, even if she wasn't sitting in it at that moment, proves she needed it. If she'd been on the dancefloor with the chair nowhere in sight, well then he would have had a point.

Did he say she was in a wheelchair?

His sister is a wheelchair user.
I don't think he was being disrespectful.

I'm too old to have been a Busted fan but he obviously didn't think about what he was saying.

I agree that some fans go too far and stalk but most of them are just normal teens, buying his records and who have given him a good life.

They paid for the house, car etc...you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds....bad move.

On a serious note (I did make a joke about the 'stalker' fans on another main thread)...

As someone who had mutual friends with 'Bros', Luke and Matt Goss, when they still lived in South London... I would say that for every 'stalker' fan willing to 'sleep with' her object of appreciation there are 20 young fans that are just obssessed with bands and are happy enough to 'love' them in a 'paltonic' but 'deeply meaningful' way from the prospective of being in the tempestous and ever-changing 'teens'. I also feel that they represent the 'core' fans that spend relatively vast amounts of money, 'paying' for bands' lifestyles.

Sure, Matt can moan about one 'dodgy' fan on prime time TV... but maybe thanks to the editing?... we don't hear him talk of the multitude of fans that give band members such of him so much support and good will.

It may have only been a single story, but, if he was more responsible/media savvy, he wouldn't have told it and/or used some of the dismissive and dis-respectful language that he used.

As a fan of his I don't feel he was slagging off fans in general, more the concept of fans who'll go to any lengths to get what they want.

The guy's only human. As his sister is in a wheelchair I would wonder if the story he told is just one that hacked him off more than most.

I think it's just basically throwaway comments that maybe some people are taking to heart too much.

Having been a fan of Busted's before Matt was a solo artist, it is obvious in interviews that the boy lacks tact at times. He just opens his gob before he thinks

I thought it was the fact that 3 years before she was imminent & close to death and when he saw her she was leaning against the bar boozing but she saw him she sunk into her chair with an embarrassed look on her face.

If she'd just stayed up it might have been OK!

Maybe Matt's kindness & attention cured her.

Yeah, that's what I understood him to have issue with more than anything.

And if by some sort of chance the girl really was at deaths door the first time and had recovered by the second, then I don't expect anyone would have taken the time to explain that to Matt to be honest.

What's that thing all about that Matt does when he finds out if he's been voted out or not?

I just wanted to have my say...

I was a Busted fan. I've got Matt's album, I've been following Matt's solo career and I'm a normal teenage girl.

I wasn't offended by that comment at all because I, for one never followed them to their hotel room or anything like that and I know a lot of people who did that to them and they do the same to McFly - half of them are insane. They will do ANYTHING to get a picture or an autograph from them, they stalk them to their houses and stuff. If you're coming from a show and you're sweaty, you just want a shower and probably some rest and you have like, 200 girls waiting for you, you're gonna get p*ssed off. Especially by the way they act, they scream like banshees, they won't wait their turn and they'll do anything to get the attention of the band, push the other girls out of the way, not caring if they get hurt. No-one can say that wouldn't annoy them.

And as for the wheelchair thing - I'm sure he's mentioned it on the show, his younger sister is in a wheelchair. If you've grown up watching someone be in a wheelchair because they're ill, of course you're going to get upset when someone who's told you that they're in a wheelchair is dying and it's going to look suspicious when you're still seeing them three years later. And I don't mean to offend anyone by this comment, but if she could walk some places without a wheelchair and they've spent days with her then they'd see it. I'm not saying she's faking it at all, it's just a little bit suspicious if she saw them and tried to slowly lower herself into it when they saw her. Like I said, I don't mean to offend.

But yes, I just wanted to put my opinion on this forward because as a Matt Willis/Busted fan I can say that I'm not offended by those comments at all. I think the majority of them were said in context.

It's a "secret code" to his girlfriend saying he loves her and misses her.

That's also what the "Jungle cheat Busted" headline was referring to.
