I'll keep this brief.

The singers who "sing" while the dancers dance fantastically.

The singers.....shite.

So glad someone has posteed this up .

Since they got rid of Laurie Holloway and his singers , half the time they sound like strangled cats

I think you need to watch the credits of the show.

Tara Mc Donald (seated on the left) is a very respected session singer and top line writer. She recently had a huge hit with My My My with Armand Van Helden. She often sounds like a black American diva which isn't bad for a white girl from Kent

Tommy Blaize (seated next) is a session singing legend who has just featured on the latest Basement Jaxx Album. He featured in the first series and the tie in album from series one

Priscilla (I think, seat three) i don't know a lot about but Craig Revel Horwood complemented her by name on her very first show

Lance Ellington has been a session singer for years and features on numerous PWL tracks as a backing vocalist.

I think they do an amazing job jumping from one extreme of style to the other within the same show. There is the very occasional track that is underperformed but these are few and far between. The singers haven't changed much for at least a couple of years. Ther has been loads of continuity in this aspect, with or without Laurie Holloway

I missed last nights show

I think the singings usually very good. Was it really that bad last night? Were there different singers on?

... do you actually mean Girls Aloud?

I agree!! And people keep complaining about the band too, wanting a 40s style big band or something, but that wouldn't work for the sheer breadth of styles this band covers each week. A big-band would surely limit the performances and make all the songs sound very similar. I think the band and singers are great and haven't noticed any difference since last year.

Every Saturday night the X factor contestants sing different styles, and every friday saturday AND sunday night for 3 years i used to sing in Cabaret circuits. I would sing solid for 3 hours jumping from one style to the next and although i'm no mariah i never sounded like they do on SCD. I am a vocal coach and my students sound ten times better! Session singers they may be, but on Saturday whoever sang "I Love To love" sounded terrible. No control. Just my opinion though.

I've always thought that there is no need for the singers, they detract from the dancing. Just started to do the red button thing to listen to the commentary instead. It's not just the singers that are awful though the choice of music/songs is dire sometimes. Latin American songs deserve proper Latin American music to get the real feel for the rhythm.
