Americans in Celebreality

I was just thinking. How can they get Americans like David Gest, Huggy Bear, Jimmy Osmond.... to star in I'm a celebrity, or The Farm, celeb BB, or Stars in their eyes, if they are British Shows? I mean, for I'm a Celeb, do they need special passports or something, as they are in Australia on a British Game show.

They would not have any problem getting a visa to take part in a show that brings income to the area, and great publicity for the Tourist trade, it is not as if they are asking for residency.

I am more puzzled why a successful music producer (Gest) would want to take part. I am going on show publicity that he is successful BTW.

I'd say he was on there to dispell his public image people have of him. Before he was on the show i (like others) thought he was just , well.... weird!!! I knew nothing about him apart from what I thought i had learned from the papers about him. I know I shouldn't believe all I read and i do take most things with a rather large pinch of salt.

I think he has done himself no end of good by appearing on IACGMOOF I think he's a great guy and extrememely funny to boot. I know i have a strange sense of humour lol

well thats my say )

way to go David!!

But you do wonder why David cares what the British puiblic think of him...........

As far as i know, his business and life is Hollywood centred, it's not as though he lives in the UK or depends on the UK market for anything..........

Will he now trawl himself around the world going on French, German, Brazilian, Korean RTV shows to 'correct' the impression they have of him ?

Why does he care what the Brits think of him ?

I think it is to with the fact that Liza is quite popular over here and he has been slated by the British press.
It's a way of showing the public his true self, demonstrating that one can't believe what one reads in the papers, and he's done a good job.

He could of course be playing the game and conning us all into thinking that he is a nice guy - he is good with tall stories after all.

I think he wanted to take part because of the slating in the British press, and he's clearly taken note who has written it as he knew Lauren Booth had written about him.

I'm still surprised Gest went on it, though.

What did it matter to him what the UK press was saying - and how many people in this country had really heard of him before his marriage to Liza Minnelli? His work is very much based in the US.
