Nokia 7650 questions
Can you get rid of that silly 'click-click' sound when you take photos as it's begining to annoy me now (and it makes it too obvious when you try to discretely take a photo of someone)?
I've not got and IR for my PC yet, but when I do is it possible to unlock the phone so I can use my Vodafone SIM? I'm sure I'll have some more questions once I've played around with it a bit more. |

I found the answer to my first question - the camera sound comes under 'warning tones' in the profiles - but anyone know if I can unlock it?

Doubt you'll be able to unlock it via IR. It may be possible to unlock it using a data cable and the appropriate software. Try your local independant mobile phone shop, or alternatively there's usually people at the computer fairs who can do this for a small fee.

No phone can be unlocked via IR. However, codes can be entered to unlock the phone, you will have to pay around £15 for the code. Let me know if you want more information about this.

I didn't think I'd be able to unock it with the IR - it's just there is no data port, only connectivity via IR and Bluetooth. I suppose the only option is to pay Orange for the code, but I'm not that bothered really, I just wanted to know if it was possible.

No, Orange don't give you a code to unlock it. In fact, Orange won't even let you unlock it. If you want it unlocking I can recommend you someone. I've used him many times and has references so he won't rip you off or anything like that.

I don't think they'll unlock it in the first year though. I'm pretty sure they will charge a bit too.

Infrared or Bluetooth?
So I can connect my phone to my PC would I be best using IR or Bluetooth? BT has the obvious advantage of being more flexible and not needing to be right next to each other and I could move the phone around whilst remaining connected - but I read that not many BT devices are compatible with Nokia PC Suite.
I would also want to be able to use it with LogoManager so I can send logos and ringtones to other people directly from LM through the phone (which I currently do with the data cable and my 5210). Has anyone had any experience using Nokia PC Suite with Bluetooth and can LogoManager be used with Bluetooth at all? |

I thought most networks did if you paid them (about £30?). Do Virgin still give it for free if you ask? |

PC Suite & XP is a pain. It's not supported by Nokia but it does work. I have used BT & IR, BT is more versatile & not just because of the range either, go to Scan or gone in 24h, they do the MSI PC2PC one for about £30 ish, although they do daily specials & it appears on there quite often.
BTW Anyone know where I can get the Skypower BT combo-pack headset from??? Russ |
