There have been quite a few fires in and around Albert Square in EastEnders over the years. The most recent of course is the one at the Fowlers'.

List in order all (or as many as you can remember) EastEnders fires. Which was the best acted and had the best special effects?

Wasn't there one in a factory that Paulines brother worked in? Or was that someone else? That's the earliest one I remember. Someone was accused of fraud over it?

There was one at Angie's Den, there was one in 1990 at the Butchers, the Vic was burnt down in 1992 I think it was. There was one at the Slaters in 2002 and the car lot has been burnt down a couple of times. There was another just on Friday there at Pauline Fowler's house. Simon Raymond was trapped in a fire at the flat above the bookies in 1999. There was a fire in 1995 or 1996 and guess what? The burning house was somebodys we'd never even heard of. I can't think why they did that now. There has been a few others as well but those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.

I think there was but don't take my word for that.

1990- Frank Butchers house

1992- Grant sets fire to the vic on Sharons birthday with her inside

1994- Phil and Frank set fire to the car lot

1999- Mel sets fire to the E20

2002- Fire at the Slaters

2004- Billy sets fire to Angies Den

2006- Fire at Paulines

There probably were more in between 94 and 99 but my mind has gone blank.

I liked the fire at the vic, Angies Den and the Slaters.

What i don't get is how Sharon didn't make much of a fuss when Tom died, but when Dennis died she was devestated and moved away

She was gutted but she did most of her grieving in Ireland.

How could I forget the Dagmar being set on fire by Den in 1988?

But Dennis really was her soul mate! And he was murdered, and they were married and she was pregnant with their miricle baby so for both their sakes it was safer with Chelle in America.

Well, to the best of my knowledge, there has only ever been 4 fires

*Queen Vic
*Angie's Den
*Slater house
*Fowler house (this past week)

I mentioned that fire earlier and I think that it was the house next door and we didn't know the owner. I can remember Carol being worried about her kids. It was pointless though to blow up an unknown characters' house. I can't remember why they did it now.

The car explosion with Steve Owen was the best fire EE has ever had IMO, with the Slaters fire in 2002 coming a close second.

I think it was so the Jacksons could be rehoused around the square. The structure of their house had been damaged by the blast and took some time to be repaired. I seem to remember Peggy taking in Robbie at the Vic and I think the Fowlers took in Billy and Blossom.

Mo Butcher sets the house on fire
Den torches the Dagmar
Phil torches the car-lot
Grant torches the Vic
Gas blast next door to the Jacksons
Simon Raymond sets fire to his flat
Car bomb explodes in the Arches
E20 torched by Mel
Slater house Fire
Fire at Ian Beale's chippy
Angie's Den torched by Billy
Johnny Allen's house torched by Danny
Pauline's house catches fire

Probably more, but I can't remember.

Well done, that's an excellent list there (and the other lists done by other forum members ). I only started this thread for fun. There have been many more fires than I expected!

The fire at Johnny Allen's house was heavily edited due to the episode being broadcast just after the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005. I've found some threads for that/those episode(s):

Will the BBC take EastEnders out of the schedules tonight/tomorrow?
EastEnders -- 7th July 2005 (On as usual, normal time)
Eastenders 8th July 2005

Has the full unedited version of that fire ever been shown? I think they supposedly 'pushed the boat out' with the special effects for it but had to cut them all out for the reasons given.

I heard that both Moon brothers were to kick down Johnny's door in that episode for some reason and the guy who plays Danny broke his toe filming the scene. His toe was broken in vain.

Mary Smith left Annie on her own when she was a prostitute and the fire was left on and it caused a fire.

Peggy was shouting at Phil and Grant at the time and she said 'I'll blow both your eads off now' and then BANG! - very good! Best fire has to be the vic though.l
