Multi Remote Controls
I have never bought or used one of these devices before but have read numerous threads on his group about them. Can anyone suggest a good one to go for and what thepro's and con's are also where is the best place to buy them. Remember I would like it to be fairly easy to use for my beyyer half. I have a Sky Plus, a JVC Widescreen TV JVC Video and a hompson surround sound / dvd system.
Thanks |

IMHO I would recommend the pronto as being the best. It takes a bit of setting up, but once done it can resemble your origional remotes so is easy for the other half to use, also you can set up macro's so one button press will do several things for instance a systen On button may turn on TV, DVD and switch the input on the TV to AV.
But they are not cheap arround £150 Hope this helps |

I have a slightly different solution for the all in one remote.
I use my Palm Tungsten with Omniremote Pro installed to control all my devices. It has an excellent learning function and you can create your own skins for it as well. Macros are great and my other half loves it. I always have my Palm with me and Omniremote is configured for all my remote controlled devices in the house and it is very nice to walk into the bedroom and switch on the TV without having to search the bed for the remote ![]() I'm not saying buy a £350 PDA for a remote control though. I am currently looking out for a cheap seconhand palm to leave in the front room on a permenant basis. It may seem like overkill, but having had multi remotes in the past, I can honestly say nothing has been as good as this. Also my girlfriend will stop asking to borrow mine to play Bubblet L P.S. I belive there is Pronto emulator for the Plam availiable as well. |

I couldn't justify replacing my Sky remote with the Pronto but I know it is the best. However, I opted for an One For All and I couldn't be happier, it works my tv, amp, Sky, vcr and dvd player. It was great getting rid of all those remote controls.

If I had the money Pronto would be the one but at the mo its just a Cambridge M1+ that I use , cost £70 about a year ago and never had any probs.
It does have drawbacks in comparison to the Pronto but Its invaluable in my HC setup.....may be selling it depending on how I find my learning remote for my upcoming amp ![]() HTH Laters Spooks |

I've had my Pronto for approx 2 1/2 years now. I tried several other multi remotes before the Pronto but Pronto is 'king'

The older Palms have very weak IR (I seem to remember they were useful upto about 5 feet.) The Sony Clies are OK for Remote Control and the Tungsten seems to be as good but any older Palm will probably not work.
