Home Cinema with Optical Input needed for around £200
Please help me out!!
I'm on the lookout for a new Home Cinema System. I recently bought a Wharfedale 400HT (400HTDAB) ALL IN ONE Home Cinema system but had problems with the DTS output so is heading back so I can get a refund. So... I have a £200 (ish!) budget to spend on a new system. Not sure whether I should get another ALL IN ONE system or go for SEPERATES?? Its going in the front room... the Wharfedale system I had before was brilliant for the space and that had 20w satellite speakers & centre and a 100w sub. So something along those lines or better is needed. (I have stands for the speakers already). So what do you recommend?? What I would like it to do is: * Play DVD-R / DVD+R * Have DTS as a soundtrack option as well as 5.1 * Has to have at least 1 Optical Input as I want to run my Xbox 360 through it too (nothing else) * Not those tower speakers!! * Has to be Silver!! They are the main things that I would like the system to do. Anything else is a bonus!!! Looking forward to hearing your suggestions. PS.... Are all the speakers that come with 'All In One' systems all pre-wired?? |

Thanks... some good stuff on there. However still not sure as to what would be any good??!!
Is this Philips one any good?? Is it a DVD player too? Philips... PS. By 'Pre-Wired' I meant in the back of the speaker?? In other words... HAVING to use their cable instead of being able to plug in your own? |

Here's an idea - I use the same system myself:
Logitech Z5400 Digital Speaker system has coax and two optical inputs - so: - Add a £30 DVD player from Asda or Tesco, connect your STB and your Xbox via Optical - leaves you with up to 4 (count 'em) Four analogue inputs (or 1 stereo & 1 5.1 analogue inputs). TV sound, Radio sound (via set top box - either Freeview, Satellite or Cable). Full DVD sound - Dolby Digital, DTS, and is THX certified too boot. Fantastic bit of kit, I love it. For £145 or less, and the £30 DVD/CD player - £30 - £175 the lot. There''s even a slightly more expensive version with wireless rear speakers! Last edited by RobAnt : 27-11-2006 at 01:27. |
