45 Albert Square
After fridays brilliant episode of eastenders, which saw Albert Squares best loved house hold Number 45 Albert Square go up in smoke. I thought id begin a thread on this house were we can all discuss and share our oppinions on the house, what will happen to it now, who will live in it in time to come and all the fabulous storylines that has happened in this house.
Also another question of mine is, was their a plot ploy behind Pauline putting all the family photographs inside the sideboard? |

Best Scene at No. 45: Pauline/Arthur/Frying Pan
or Little Mo clobbers Trevor with Pauline's iron I think the photos in the sideboard was to highlight how much EE history is embedded in No.45, Pauline and the Fowler family. I expect there will be similar scenes in the coming weeks as we approach

I also thought the same about the scenes with Pauline and the photographs, and also that maybe by placing them in the sideboard that they could be possibly be saved from the fire.

When Pauline was looking at the photos, I'm sure there was one of the old Mark with Arthur.
Did anyone else see that? |

I think that it's a London two up / two down. When Dot lived there, Dot's bedroom was downstairs.

Ah ha! If it's only two bedrooms that must mean Rebecca has one and Pauline and martin share the other!

I love that house, it holds so many memories, one of the few sets on any soap where the set can really tell a story of its own. The scenes with Pauline sitting on the stairs overhearing everything the others were saying aboput her was one of the best scenes in EastEnders in recent years.
To be honest, this storyline is the only reason why I have started to watch EastEnders again, becuase it has so much history to the show. Wendy Richard is an amazing actress who is 100% loyal and dedicated to her character, shame more actors didn't feel quite as loyal. Is the house damaged? I presumed that it wasn't going to get that damaged after the fire. |

I remember years ago you saw one of the upstairs bedrooms. It was when Michelle had Vicky. It was quite a big room and she done it out like a bedsit. I think that room was also shown when she jilted Lofty at the alter. Den came round and gave her a necklace.

Arthur trashing the Living Room when he had a nervous breakdown sticks in my mind as one of the best scenes ever in that house. Best scene in the Kitchen has to be Pauline whacking Arthur with the frying pan.

I think it has three bedrooms upstairs and the front room is used as a bedroom, and Joe recently converted the loft giving the house 4/5 bedrooms.

The room at the front was where Ethel dies, wasn't it? Has the new loft conversion ever been shown?
It is amzing how many rooms are meant to be in these houses! EastEnders has so many sets, it's a shame they don't use them all to their full potential. I mean, what happened to the flats next to the Vic, why aren't their interiors shown anymore? Also the tower block in the distance, where Pete, Kathy and Ian used to live, why can't some characters live there now? I also think it is about time some redevelopment takes place, I mean look at Corrie, in its 46 year history the 'other side' of the Street has undergone significant change, whereas in Albert Square nothing has changed. This is unrealistic as changes would be made over time, like how long would a srappy piece of land remain as a car lot? or the single storey shops in Bridge Street - surely it's about time something was redeveloped?? Maybe they could have a storyline with plans to redevelop a major part of the area, and the Square rally round to save it?? Sorry I've gone off topic, but this is something I get really passionate about and get annoyed when soaps just ignore these types of issues, over endless affairs, murders, explosions etc which are just too over the top. Has anyone ever wondered why the stairs at No 45 go up the wrong way? In all the other Albert Square houses the stairs lead up from the front door end, toward the rear of the house, whereas at No 45 they do the opposite! |

We saw one of the upstairs bedrooms when Sonia moved in with Martin and they were getting grossed out by the fact that Martin was conceived in the double bed they were sleeping in!

There have been some great stories stemming from the Fowlers. Michelle's pregnancy Paulines pregnancy Arthur's breakdown Lou just being an old battleaxe Mark being HIV Mark & Jill Arthur's affair Not sensationalist storylines, just what would maybe happen to an ordinary working class family. |

I really, really, really don't want to see a new family in that house, let Ian and the kids (And Jane, depending on Friday) move in. It's been a Beale house for so long that it should stay that way.
