Best DVD Player Value - USA or UK?
I'm moving back to the UK this year from the USA and want to know what the best value budget DVD player is. I've read about Cyberhomes, Apex, Sampo, etc, and wonder what's the best buy, picture-wise. Talking of BestBuy, here in the US I can get a DVD player for the equivalent of about 40 quid but there's no Scart's here, nevertheless they do have worldwide voltage and NTSC/PAL converters. Would I be best to wait until I get back to the UK before I buy such a machine? Do any budget DVD players have a zoom facility where, on a letterbox film, you can zoom in slightly bit by bit so that the image fills the screen more and then stop when you like - rather like the zoom button on a camcorder? Thanks!

I'd personally not bother bringing over a DVD player, they can be got here (UK) from about £55 for similar models to what you mention, plus you get scart sockets and somewhere to take it back to if it goes wrong.....plus is it going to be troublesome to travel on a plane with it?
Also of course the UK uses region 2 so if you have existing region 1 discs you'll need a multi region player. |
