tbh - at 18' viewing distance can you not stretch to a 50" panel

will make a hell of a difference

btw have you looked at the 600 range or considered a panel only solution if you have sky and a seperate av amp?

hi nick-h, sorry not intending to hijack this thread as ive 'JUST' posted my own question about panel screen under hdtv forum, but was just reading this as you mentioned a panel screen, ive been looking at the panasonic panel th42phd9 as advertised and RAVED about on the 'av forum' as i said would appreciate a reply under my own thread so as not to hijack this one, unless paulwillbehappy is also intrested in it to? sorry i dont have the know how to post a link to it but its advertised and raved about on the 'AV-FORUM' WEB SITE, not this site.

I'm fairly confident this TV has been sperceded, firstly by the TH42PX60 and now by the TH42PX600. Each has been reviewed well although Pannys are expensive when they hit the market.

Dixons now have the TH42PX60 for about £960 without a stand or £1250 including the elgant Cabinet stand.

I'd love one although Samsung are really looking good lately.

Rated the no 1 set in the Which report last month on TVs.
Can't remember the words, as I only read it at a friend's house, but it was something like "head and shoulders" above any other set. And they tested quite a long list, it wasn't one of those reviews where they only test 3 models and 2 of them are obviously not competitive with the first.

Note, this hasn't been superceeded as Scorpio suggests. The TH42PX60C just denotes the Cabinet version of the package - Also available with a pedistal, or wall mount.
And the TH42PX600 just has a few more features like better sound and a SD card slot, but the panel and processor are exactly the same.

Have the 37 PX 60 with the elegant stand. Had it since May and it has not disappointed.

We carried out a lot of research before choosing it and even today it gets people commenting about it when they first see the picture.

Not surprised about the top ratings. For the price I think it is currently unbeatable.

Works great with HD as well.

Do you watch much 4:3 programming on this? I'm just concerned about image retention of the black bars, otherwise I may well go for this.

Many thanks for the comments, Mine arrives on Friday 8th December, Same day as the Nintendo Wii..............

Sadly the Wii has to remain boxed until Christmas Morning

A question about the Freeview Tuner on the Panasonic TV, At present i'm running a cheap Goodmans Freeview tuner, Will the tuner in the set be any better.

I've recently had my aerial upgraded but some of my channels eg ITV 1 are only half signal strength and the video and sound drop out now and again ?

Hi Guys !

bobcar - I tend not to watch anything with a 4:3 aspect, but if you had too i.e. ITV football, at half time turn channel over for 15mins - retention\burn tends to happen more frequently with static images left on screen for long periods.

There are also 3-Zoom settings on the remote to remove annoying logos etc.

Not sure what make of Freeview box sits inside screen, you would assume its Pannys own ? my screens picture quality is very good !!

Maybe an idea if its still as bad after you have viewed it on your new screen to buy an inline aerial booster of some sort ?

Remember to take the picture out of "Dynamic"(factory set) use Normal\Cinema, set contrast & brightness below 50%, dont leave static images on screen for hours on end, minor precautions for a screen reputed to be one of the best !!

You will enjoy every minute !!

'A few more features' add about £500 to the price as the PX60 starts to get heavily discounted.

If the processor is the same then the PX60 is fantastic value at the mo.

Yes I think I will go for this, the PQ does seem brilliant for the price.

The only thing is I've just bought the X Files complete set and the first 4 seasons (96 episodes) are all 4:3 so I'm going to watch these before buying the plasma.
