looks like im finaly go have to get rid of old tv, had my monies worth, and have been browsing and reading up on the !minefield! of lcd and plasma tvs, god theres so much conflicting info about lcd or plasma or size versus view distance etc etc etc etc, anyway back to main reason for post, been on the 'AV-FORUM' web site and most people on there are raving about the panasonic panel screen, it's not exactly a 'tv' more of a profesional screen! sorry not able to post a link to it yet from this page, need a bit more practice, just wondering if anyone on this site has any experience of this item? its also offered for sale at a discounted power seller price, extra guarantee and all accesories etc on sale. also just a bit cautious as the people that are selling it also sponser the site! but seems as legit as any other site! as regards write ups\reviews etc. model number th42phd9

The people raving about the Panny screens are the people who own one, but then so do the people who own Pioneer Fujitsu & LG.

Some may show SD slightly better than others but out of those 4 there viewing in HD there is very little between them & you should go for what you like after viewing them.

right - firstly do not have any concerns about buying from AV Sales who advertise on AV Forums - my last two panny panels have been from them and i cannot fault there professional service

also if you read on AV Forums you will find that AV Sales have dealt with problem panels etc with a diligence that puts 99% of other retailers to shame

as regards the panel you mention - i have the 50" version and its superb - needs a bit of care setting up - but even with out of the box settings you cannot go wrong (take out of dynamic picture mode immediately)

these panels are bullet proof with regards to screen burn - mind you as a professional panel thats on 24/7 in Tesco/Heathrow etc thats to be expected

you'll hear the panels derided by the likes of Comet/Curry etc - because they cannot obtain them!!

also they come with a two year warranty as standard as opposed to the one year for domestic products

yes before someone jumps in - i know there are warranty offers at the moment -but one year is the norm for domestic panny tv's

if you want any more info or pm me before this thread turns into another slanging match

thanks for that nick h, just shows what a minefield it is, been back onto av-forum and someones got a thread going now saying pany 60\600 has fault on it causing magenta lines on screen!
these forums can be conflickting and cause people headaches, but can also be very helpful (had a computer fault solved by technical advice given by to me on simply digital site) but im not taking any notice of that thread as i've also been on sky + threads and they advise people to always go for pace made box, and yet if they were perfect there wouldn't be a thread on there with people with problems!! i ordered pace sky+ from simply digital, not sky, and installed myself and it hasn't missed a beat after 18months, even just been watching nicky cambell on bbc watchdog slaging them off!
my job involves fitting office equipment some we are always going back to, others we never hear from!!
so as kojack said just pick a branded one, make sure backup\guarantee\returns is good service, use past experience or recommended places to buy from..re simply digital online shop... i've got pany dvd rec\player its great, had jvc vid and tv it was rubbish! so sticking with panny tv, took me 3goes to got my present tubed phillips tv right,1st one was faulty tube as soon as turned it on!!!
just got to sort out pros and cons, cost and setting up of either pany 60\600 'tv' or commercial 'screen panel', thanks for your inputs.

i saw a 37 inch Panasonic PLASMA in Currys on Saturday.. the SD picture was a lot deeper and richer than my Samsung LCD + the viewing angle was so superior to any LCD in the shop. Blacks were Black and there was no fuzziness. In fact all the Plasmas gave a better picture.. having an LCD i could tell what screens were LCD and what weren't.
If i was to do a swap i would definitely go for a Panasonic Plasma TV instead of an LCD... After seeing that one on sat it blew LCD out of the water.
The 37" Panasonic can be found online for around £900 (i think its rrp is £1200)

Just remember too, that a lot of people go for huge tvs over 40 inches... there front rooms look like cinemas gone wrong and the viewing positions are far to close for a decent picture.. the average front room holds 26" + 37 max. + you get a better picture and save money!
