EPG - BBC4 not loading
dave.cox
28-11-2006
For the past couple of weeks BBC4 has not been loading in the EPG.
My box is tuned to Bilsdale transmitter.
Any clues as to why it should just omit BBC4?

There was a user her and on hummy.org.uk who did a default setting on the machine (in the installation menu) which cured this. Perhaps there is some data stuck in the EPG table in memory. Could be worth a try

I've certainly done that. It did clear the problem for me...

you could delete BBC 4 from the channel list and then scan that mux to add it back. This might fix it and prevent timer and settings loss.

I agree delete one before the many.

Might work, but won't clear out any rogue data causing a problem in the same way that a 'default settings' does!

it might clear out the data, we won't know unitl it's tried.

I'm guessing the EPG doesn't store EPG dat for channels not in the list so deleting it and re scaning should work, let's wait and see.

Come on Dave, we're waiting with baited breath.

Point is try one before the other... if it works happiness no extra messing about.

I have been having this problem intermittently, and the only thing that cured it was a system reset, deleting BBC4 from the channel list didnt work.

This option was fine for me as I dont tend to have any repeat timers...I think that this is the only way to fix it

Many thanks for all your ideas.
Will be a while before I try the fixes, and will probably not go for the full reset.
I will post when I have had a go.

That was my opinion, too, hence the earlier suggestion! I think this problem requires a more fundamental fix than a re-tune of the single channel in question.

I've had my 9200T almost a year and never done a reset ... don't see the need so far.

Lucky you! I've had to reset to defaults a couple of times to get the BBC4 EPG loading again. I've also had to reformat the disk twice: once after losing all my recordings, and again (a few days ago) to clear disk corruption following a lock-up.

Dont you even do default settings after a software update?

Whilst watching BBC4 last night I found that the EPG for BBC4 populated without any of the interventions!
Does this indicate a problem with EPG transmissions rather than the Humax?
I too never reset even after an OTA software upgrade, and on the whole the box is very well behaved.

No I only do OTA... no issues have arisen yet... I'm just too lazy to rebuild favourites and reservations... if odd behaviour starts then that's when I'll reset.

I've never done a reset to manufacturer's defaults either. I took the view that I've never seen Humax on either the OTA update or Web site say to do so as a matter of course so I haven't.

I've had my 9200 for over a year and done a mixture of PC-downloaded and OTA software upgrades and each time I've not had any issues.

I've been really impressed with the quality of the Humax hardware and software so far and eagerly await the next release with all the "goodies" in it. With what looks some significant changes in the up and coming release, I guess Humax may say a reset is necessary after its installation in which case I'd do one - or if things start going wrong.

I haven't had any EPG for ITV3 for the last few days.

Just ITV3 or all ITV?

Try leaving it tuned to BBC1, and a power reset (rear switch) helps sometimes.

i have had problems with the EPG too..only would load 3 days at a time. Setting the default setting has rectified the problem...thanks
