NAD L53 Optical

Does anyone else have a NAD L53 and has got the optical input to work? I'm trying to connect my Sky+ to the NAD this way but can't get any output.

AS the NAD isn't Dolby I've left the optical settings on the Sky+ box to 'stereo' but this still doesn't give me any signal.

I've found out after much surfing that the optical input is aligned to the VCR input setting on the NAD (sounds weird doesn't it!) but even trying this produces not signal either.

Any ideas out there?

Yes, I have a NAD L53 and am successfully using the optical input from my Panasonic DVD recorder. You're right, the optical input is aligned to the VCR input, but by default this is set to analog. To change to optical, change the input to VCR, then press the 'display' button. You will then get 'VCR / OPTICAL' shown on the display. The unit will then remember this setting. Slightly odd design, certainly!
This is of course in the manual (page 13), which I'm guessing you haven't got. I suggest you download a copy from nadelectronics.com....

(BTW - you should, if you can, set to optical output on your SKY box to 'PCM')

Regards

Peter
