Ok,

I've recently got myself a Yamaha amp and speaker setup... just looking for a DVD player or DVD Recorder now!!

I've currently got a standard 32" LCD TV with 2 RGB Scart inputs, S-Video and Composite... I've got roughly about £100 to spend on one. My question is

what can I get for that money, or do I even have to spend that much??


What the DVD player MUST be able to do is:

* Have Progressive Scan
* Output RGB through the Scart
* Output DTS / Dolby 5.1 to my amp
* Have a Digital Coaxial or Optical output to hook it up to my amp
* Play DVD-R, DVD+R



If the DVD player can do these then great, otherwise not essential

* Play Super Audio CD's
* Play DivX / WMV files
* Have HDMI output (for future use)

For a player you couldn't look past the Toshiba SD-360E, it can do all you ask above, not sure about a sub-£100 recorder that can do all you ask.

To be honest, I think that Toshiba player you mentioned is under £100

imagine a few of the £70 recorders will do the lot.

SACD not so common though.

It is, you can get it for £60-70
