Creative Zen problem

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my Creative Zen.

I went to use it last night and when I switched it on I could hear a Clicking sound comming from the inside of the unit.

I therefore did a reset using the end of a paperclip which turned itself off. When it trned itself on again it presented me with the Recovery Mode .

When I went to Reload Firmware a message came up with a picture saying Harddisk problem .

Can anyone help me on this matter.

Thanks

Craig

I think maybe your harddisk is the problem? What zen do you have?

How long have you had it?

I sent mine back because I'd only had about 6months and they replaced it for free.

I wouldn't go upsetting fiends by stealing HDDs if I was you.

No I was wondering as my friend said her could have his HDD from his as he has a PSP and I have also been told to open the back and check that the ribbon cable hasn't come out of the drive.

What type of drives do they use as I could fit a replacement one

The drive will be swappable, but at the price of a new player, it's not worth it.

My zen lasted one day.

Took it out of the box, it threatened to start up - got as far as the zen name. Reset it - got it to the folders list, then nothing. Would not function. Tried about a dozen times and it just simply would not work.

Absoloute garbage!

Give me the easier to use, much lighter and sleeker looking IPOD anyday. I know all items of hardware can have problems but the Zen was just plain terrible.

Don`t get yours repaired, replace it with another brand player.

Totally not true.

You can pick up replacement drives for these units pretty cheap as it uses the same size drive as many laptops.

I have a 40gb Zen (a friends) sitting in the house waiting for me to get round to sticking a replacement drive in it for him. I reckon I can get a drive off ebay (new) for around £1 per gb.

Once done, he'll have a perfectly serviceable 40gb MP3 player. Dunno where you can pick one up at that capacity for £40-£50 ......

There are a few guides on the net explaining how to swap the drives in Zen players ... pretty straightforward .... then just d/l new firmware from the Creative site and Bobs your uncle.

5 minutes on google and you should be right ...

You might have been unlucky, I have had my Zen for a long time now and I havent had a problem. I love the players.

I too have a zen 20GB. I have had mine over 2 years and never had a problem with it.
