if american idol is going out first in the us and later here in the uk - we will be able to see who's gotten through to the next rounds and better then that who has won!

This happened in the States as well. I got well into it via the net, and I used to follow every episode when the East Coast kept others further west up to date, giving a minute by minute update on the forums. California etc was a good 3 hours behind EST.It was just so damn frustrating that while I could read about it, I couldn't see most of it. But this year I can!

one word which descirbes american idol with simon cowell in it: woohoo!!!

i went on an american forum and they had these people on it saying how horrible simon was and how much they hated him and how much he was a **** etc etc - they dont seem to realise that thats just him - he says what he likes. us brits seem to take him with a pinch of salt compared to the americans.

Was it the official board Spankee, because I went on there. I lashed out when they dissed Will, but I hooted at how seriously they took SC.

no i dont think it was the official board - whats the official website anyway?

i found the same as you - it was hilarious how they were taking Simon so seriously and were genuinly getting upset over him!! could believe they dont like Will either - why??? i think he's better than the girl who won it last time (baring in mind i only saw clips of the first american idol), but i think Will's voice is very unique and very impressive.

Looks like its no holds barred Spankee. Apparently Si was restraining himself during the latter part of American Idol 1.
Check out

and click on the article dated 1/19/03 titled "Simon promises not to hold back"
Bring it on!

Are you sure? There's no listings for ITV2 for it and DS said it would air on Jan 31st
Or are you referring to Letterman? Thanks for the info though.

When does it start on ITV2 and how far behind will we be? I hope its not too long or else I won't be able to resist temptation and find out who goes

I was under the impression that it starts on ITV2 on January 31.
As I shall be logging onto the net tonight to listen to all the comments posted on the Official Site, does this mean you dont want me to comment on any titbits (eg SC putdowns) or can I just mark my posts SPOILER so you can skip over them.
Personally,I cant resist knowing whats going on as it happens. I'm incredibly nosey like that
But, if you really dont want to know, I'll try and control myself.

I don't mind as long as you put Spoiler

But I'll probably read them until we actually get down to when people are getting voted through and off

I Belive it starts on 31 Jan on ITV2. Once we get to the "live" shows - it will air Tuesday night on Fox TV in US and the following evening on ITV2.

yeh the layout is a bit pants - this forum is organised much better. You cant see who's online and stuff, and it seems that all ther americans like to type out long rambling posts
oh well its still fun!

Not much about the show tonight on the boards. Just the usual moans about Si offset by all the ones who think he's "totally hot" and whatever lingo they use to worship at his feet. I'm really disappointed with the boards. They should've stuck with msn, it was much more user friendly! I haven't posted one dig on them tonight. Oh well, there's another show tomorrow, so I'm off to sleep

THe AI2 Premiere was great tonight. I live here in the states and I also find it funny how people get so upset over what Simon says. He's a brilliant guy and his retorts to the singers are quite witty. He knows how to get the ratings up for a program, that's for sure. And isn't that what American Idol is really all about? Whether they find a lasting singer is not really that important to them, its creating an entertaining program for a few months.

Actually. although Simon is a great ratings booster, I think both Pop Idol and American Idol are about making loads of money for Si and Simon Fuller (ex manager of the Spice Girls) who invented the whole concept.
Thanks for posting, now I dont suppose you could give us a quick recap on what happened on the show, could you?

yeh i agree - its all about entertainment and raking in laods of dosh! With Popstars 1 and Popstars the Rivals everyone was really interested and watched it at the beginning, however, towards the end when the bands got picked, nobody really cared - the entertainment and insults had gone, so it wasnt as fun to watch. Pop Idol was a bit better - that format really got people hooked i think - i was def intersted in it right up until the final - cos it was quite intense.

Also, Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell know that they are gonna make big bucks when the singles from the winners come out - and even their first album will prob sell loads - as long as they get that dosh then i dont think they really care if the bands last longer than a year!

IslandManUSA - come on, tell us what's happened...we've gotta wait another week over here!

Hey Tally - have you been on the AI2 official website forum recently?? well i just went on there and all the posts are 'read-only' so you cant post any messages. however, i saw an advert for the proper official AI2 forum so i think its converted to that forum now. you have to re-register and everything.
This is the official forum now. Im registered as Spankee2k on it - so i guess i'll see you on it???

Just found this gem in a review of last nights show. Watch out for this guy -his name's Keith. And Simon's comment on the wannabee?
"There was this kid in Atlanta, and, honestly, I'm not exaggerating here, this kid was the worst singer in the world, not that he had any idea how bad he was...it was so bad that one of the security guys actually collapsed. This is a true story. He actually fell down flat. I thought someone had shot him. He was dragged out of the room because this guy was so bad."

And Grrrrrr at ITV2 for keeping us waiting till the 31st
