Ant and Dec are pure class!! they really did make Pop Idol great (as well as simon and his insults). Their impressions of simon, pete, foxy and nikki were genius, and totally hilarious. Do you watch Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway?? i watched it last week/the week b4 last (cant remember which) and they dressed up as German Pop Idol winners and went on This Morning and fooled everyone - it was so funny - they even sang a song and everything! in the forthcoming weeks they said that they'd fooled Simon too - i think they're going to show it near the end of the series.

Also, the americans dont seem to have realised how far simon wear's his trousers up his chest - i havent seen any comments about it!

Yep, that article pretty much says it all. Sorry for not providing a recap of it last night. I didn't know if anyone wanted it spoiled here. The second part of the premiere is tonight, and I'm sure the same sight will have a recap. Also check out the official website, they might have the recap.

Just when you see the premiere over there, my fave part was the slow motion Unchained Melody singer...def. the highlight of the show.

so we're suffering severe withdrawal symptoms.
By the way, why didn't you like Will Young? Although I guess like Kelly Clarkson (who I loved btw) we loved him because we got to know his personality and integrity over 5months, which is how long the original ( ie UK ) Idol ran for. He was the first to answer Simon back, but he did it in such a polite way and made such witty remarks in the green room, that everyone sat up and took notice of him from then on. And the rest , as they say, is history

There haven't been any stand outs so much in the first two premiere episodes. Mostly a lot of baaaaaaaad singing....and a lot of shots of the judges trying not to burst out in laughter. There was a guy who was related to our second and sixth president or something who they thought was sent from God. lol. Otherwise the eps are just hilarious.

I don't remember saying I didn't like Will Young. But I personally do like Kelly Clarkson better..she's amazing. I haven't seen all of the Pop Idol episodes tho..I've seen parts. I did see Popstars: The Rivals tho which I loved..so hopefully I'll find the Pop Idol eppys somewhere to watch. But when I listen to Will Young singing, he's got a great voice, but it sounds a bit weird sometimes. But true, I don't really know what he's like as a person, which would def. affect the way one views their abilities and such.

Thanks Islandman, I love TWoP, its a fantastic site and I spent hours there last season laughing out loud at their write ups of each show. I particuarly loved the references to Pimp Central and Black and Decker-very apt.
Sorry, I wasn't implying YOU hated Will, its just all the reviews I read dissed him abominally and I got quite protective of him

See, personally I didn't rate Kelly at all... She can sing, but it's not like her voice has any kind of distinctive tone to it like Will Young's.

Tamyra or whatever her name was, seemed better from what I heard as well.

As for that Justin bloke... Is he still around? Lemar's version of Let's Stay Together kicked the living crap out of his.

Lol. I think its the opposite here. I loveeeeee Kelly Clarkson's voice. It's so powerful and I like the way she does the grunt thing. And for Will Young...I find his voice to be a little weird..he has a sort of lisp going on. lol.

So I think it has to do with having watched them for so many weeks and seeing them grow as performers which makes us like them so much.

As for our runner-up Justin, I never thought he was that amazing a singer..and he doesn't have a very large vocal range it seems. I think he made it more on image and the fact that mostly teenage girls vote. lol.

The ones who I thought had real talent for AI1 were Kelly, Tamyra, and Christina. The rest were good singers, but just didn't stand out as much.

LOL! ok. I didn't know how to word it...but she does the thing that some singers do where their voice goes raspy for a while at the beginning of a note...it sounds sort of like a grunt...lmao.
