Hello all,

Does a phone exist with which you can receive land line calls on your local number, and dial with your local number (land line) and also via Skype?

Thanks,

Probably, but it's expensive, requires a PC to be on, and is generally useless junk.

Real VOIP, on the other hand, has none of those problems and there are adaptors that do what you want. Plus you're not tied into skype and its extortionate pricing.

Yes, the Philips VOIP841 is a DECT phone with sockets for RJ-11 PSTN and RJ-45 Ethernet to your router so doesn't require a PC:

Probably will be expensive though. An alternative is a SIP-based device such as a Linksys SPA-3102 where you can plug any analogue phone into it and has PSTN pass-through.

Why are you looking to buy a phone that you can't use on any other network, it's costing a lot more, and you have to pay for an incoming number to receive calls from the phone network? There are lots of VOIP routers out there that let you combine a landline and a proper SIP based VOIP service all on one phone. Go for one of those, it will pay off in the long run.
