Upscaling
scaroth
01-12-2006
Hi all,

Im about to take the plunge and fork out for a Samsung, F71 series.

If anyone out there has one I'd apprecite their views on it.
In particular its spec'd at "Full HD", 1080p.

Im also thinking about upgrading my DVD player for one that upscales to 1080i/p (Denon 1930), but Im not sure if the TV will upscale for me and if so what are the pro's/con's of using the TV instead of the DVD player.

Cheers

Steve

Try each doing the scaling/dinterlacing and find out.

The really big problem, according to experts, is deinterlacing of PAL material. Many deinterlacing chips are desinged for NTSC, and just improved for PAL, and miss some key PAL detection alogorithms, thus deinterlacing PAL incorrectly.

Many LCD/plasma TV's now use Feroudja chips, and don't make a big thing of it. So you might think your DVD player has to be better, becuase it does have Feroudja embalzoned on it.
