A faithful marriage in EE?
Is there such a thing or am I being a smug married?
I don't think I can remember ONE marriage in EE where they have been utterly faithful to eachother...I mean ...in real life it does actually happen!! This got me thinking after the Nat & Rickaaaay affair started...in a way I don't blame her, I never understood why she married Barry Bacon in the first place. But, I degress. My H and I were sat there trying to think about an actual marriage that took place in the square which resulted in them actually staying together with no hints of affairs etc....I mean look at Pawline and Arrrfa!!! He poked around with Mrs Hewitt!!! Crumbarbaline (happily hitched!) |

The only one that sprang straight to mind was Pauline and Authur, but even Authur had a bit on the side. Maybe it's worth asking "Dr Eastenders" on their website if anyones ever had a happy marage. Just have to see how long Billy and Mo last.

Debbie and Nigel
You could also say Ruth and Mark - as nothing really happened between Ruth and Conor, although Mark never thought that. |

Dot and Jim so far? There was Mark and his first wife - although she died the next day. |

Pat and Frank. I don't think either of them ever played away from each other, although they played away with each other when they were with other partners.

what about the posh couple - Debbie and Andy? He got killed in a hit and run and is now in Hollyoaks - don't remember them cheating.
Robbie and Nita ... though I fear that one isn't going to be forever! |

Didn't Debbie have a thing with Wilmot-Brown. I can't remember if that was before Andy carked it or not though. But I do remember them splitting up and they'd only just got back together when he died but not sure why they split up.

Lynne was unfaithful the night before the wedding (lol) and she got involved with Jason before their first wedding anniversary I think. Enough to put you off marriage! |

Can someone name a single marraige in EastEnders which hasn't ended up in divorce or one of the couple has died for reasons other than natural causes?

I suppose this is the problem with soaps. Supposing, for example, Barry decides to leave. Do we split him and Natalie up, kill Barry or just bring in a new actor like they tend to do in Australia?
What would people prefer? |

Pat's husband is supposed to be leaving, isn't he? Perhaps he and Barry go away. Pat could definitely do with some new storylines. I remember when she was the resident slapper - all of a sudden everyone wants to cry on her shoulder. |

Seriously it would be nice to see a really happy couple. People get married at the drop of a hat in EE and then shag around a few days later. Sad and not a fair representation of most relationships. |

Ethel and Willie? (and I'm referring to the husband rather than the vile little pug)
OK, so he was dead by the time she joined the soap but ... I think the problem with Eastenders is the tendancy to axe particular characters rather than entire families - so they have to split up, or die. But then again, I can easily think of one person in each family I'd be quite happy to see the back of so I guess it's an inevitable part of soap. I definitely can't think of a couple who came to the square, stayed for a while, did not stray, and left together, healthy and happy. |

What about the Travernier's (sp?). They lived in the square in the late 80's or early 90's. I can't remember their names but I think the husband was a builder and they had 3 children - Clyde, Hattie and a third (I can't remember his name either).
