Plasmas & non- shielded speakers?
Had a quick look but can’t find any thing on these forums.
Can any one tell me if it’s safe to place non-shielded speaker’s next/close to a plasma screen. I know that this would be a very big no no if it was a CRT screen as the magnets would play havoc with it. |

As far as I am aware, plasma screens are unaffected by the magnetism.

Well what you can do is, place them next to the screen and see if you get the blueness/discolouration on your TV (Best to see if this happens during dark scenes of a program).
If not, then it's not a problem placing them next to the TV. Anyway, you only need to keep non-shielded speakers about a foot away from normal TV's so as to avoid the magnetism effect. |

Did nothing whatsoever to mine. You move the speaker close, blueness appears, move it away, it goes. It would be a rare case to cause damage. |

Thanks for the help people.
I'm going to hook up a pair of KEF speakers to my 61" LG, come to think of it they must be all of 25 years old & still going strong. Not ready to be pensioned of yet. Bit like me
