Hi there!
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, I was unsure.
I recently bought a second hand Philips DVDR880 off eBay for a tenner - not bad I thought, even though Amazon reviewers had been slagging it off.
It's a great little recorder and has worked well with a DVD+RW (x4 speed) disk I've been using.
The problem came when I tried to use an 8x speed DVD+R, which didn't work at all. Apparently the box might not be able to record onto some brands of 8x dvds - fair enough, since they probably came out after the recorder was made.
Now, to my question. I've bought a set of DVDs from HMV which are DVD+R and say they are "1x to 16x speed" - rather than simply saying "8x max" or "4x max".
I'm wondering if "1x to 16x" means that it will be compatible with all recorders within that range - including mine which seems to be about 4x.
Is this right? I'd rather not break open the pack if they aren't going to work.
Thanks!
