Hitachi flat panel tv
I'm considering purchasing either a Hitachi plasma/lcd (depending on size), any experince of particular models to recommend or stay away from?
My other option at the moment is the Toshiba lcd screen - 37WLT66 - any experience with this model either anyone please?

Bought a 32" Hitachi LCD from Argos.
So far it's working like a dream but I will say that this LCD and most others are only as good as what you throw at them. I'm using a HDMI upscaling Panasonic DVD player and the images are clear and sharp. There's a notable dfference when using RGB Scart so I'd stick to the HDMI input in my opinion. |

Hitachi flat screens TVs in general tend to score 4/5 in home cinema mags. I previously had a 32" Hitachi plasma which I chose after comparison with a number of other makes for its picture quality using both DVD and broadcast sources. I would recommend you do the same before making a final choice.
I don't know what budget you have in mind but the Hitachi 42PD9700 42" ALiS 1080 plasma TV can be had for around £1000 online which is excellent value. |

I too am thinking of upgrading to a 37 inch LCD. The one in mind at present is the Toshiba 37WLT66, however I am a little concerned at the number threads around at the moment regarding problems when viewing SD sources (such as Freeview) on most HD ready LCD TV's.
There is (according to what you read on forums such as this) problems when viewing fast moving shots such as sports and the like. Until I am satisfied that this is not a major problem I am reluctant to part with my cash. kas |

Kas - the best thing is to go and see the TV(s) you are thinking about in the flesh. Watch it with any and all of the inputs you are likely to use it for and judge it from there. So don't just judge it on what it looks like with a HD picture, but try it with freeview (inbuilt and/or STB), DVD, SKY/Cable (if poss) and make your decision from there.

I have got the Hitachi 42PD7200 42" Plasma and it is superb, I can highly recommend Hitachi, they are very good for connections on the back as well. Mine as 3 x Scart (1RGB) ,DVI and Anaolgue PC Connections, HDMI, Component Video, S Video, RGB Video, audio in/out etc.
Had mine for 18 months now with no problems, recently got Sky HD and it looks incredible. |

I bought the Hitachi 32LD8700 from my local Tesco for £599.99 and the exact same model is in Argos for £999.99. I am amazed with the quality of this TV, playing games on it is something else plus you get freeview built in which is great! Definitely would recommend!!
