Creative Zen Touch Repair
cmorris
05-12-2006
Hi Guys,

I was given a Creative Zen Touch 20GB Mp3 Player for my Birthday in Aug 2005. Last week my Mp3 player broke down with a Harddisk problem.

Because my MP3 player is out of waranty does anyone know on any shops that can repair my MP3 player as it needs a new HDD

Thanks

Craig

To be honest Craig, it's not really worth doing, you can get a decent new player for about £100.

^^^ I'm sure you gave that reply further down the page!

If you can hold a screwdriver, it's pretty easy to replace the HD in these.

Have a look online, I think you'll find you can get it working again (20-40gb capacity) for a lot less than £100 .....

Don't even think about it. I'm reasonably PC competent, but I killed my Toshiba Gigabeat when I opened it up.

Yes but I want to find a shop that would repair it for me as I might want to sell it on Ebay later

The gigabeat is a far newer machine .... and quite possibly far more complicated inside .... dunno, never looked.

I've dismantled, replaced parts and re-assembled several MP3 players without problems.

Nothing to lose really if it's already broken .... not cost-effective to get an older player so if you think you can manage it, you might as well give it a go .....

Can you replace the front face of them as mine has been dented quite badly

Front face is trickier as it's not a generic part.

I'm not really into the whole 'send me your machine and I'll try and fix it' thing. I've helped a few mates out on the understaning that if I f**k their MP3 player up completely, then tough cookies! If they want a pro-job .... they pay pro-prices, not a few pints!

Sorry.
